2001 Z24 - Rattling and Grinding Noises

I just bought this car (after a 150 point inspection made no note of driveline noise) and when I drove away from the insurance office, I immediately noticed these sounds. I've since had the inspection company (BCAA) refund my $150 for the inspection. The car only has 74,000 KMs (46,000 miles) so I'm kind of surprised to be coming across these problems.

After researching on this site, I am now fully aware of the infamous Getrag rattle issue that there is no fix for. I've read that the best solution is to use B&M Trick Shift Synthetic ATF fluid and follow the instructions in GMs technical service bulletin. Before I proceed with this, I'd really appreciate some opinions on whether or not the sounds I am experiencing are related.

1: Driving at low RPMs, not only in 1st and 2nd. The "pennies in a can" sound can be reproduced regardless of engine temp.. It happens consistently in all gears when accelerating between 1500 and 1700 RPMs. It intermittently happens when decelerating in 2nd from around 3000 RPMs down to 1500 RPMs.

2: There is a somewhat faint grinding noise when above 2700 RPMs. In gear or in neutral. Once the RPMs drop below 2700 RPMs, the noise stops. This is most easily reproduced and heard by accelerating in 2nd to around 3500 RPMs and then letting off the gas and letting the RPMs drop below 2700 RPMs. It's very annoying because you hear it every time you shift gears at or above that 2700 RPM level.

Can anyone help me out here? Do these 2 issues sound related? Is anyone who is living with the Getrag rattle also experiencing the grinding noise mentioned above?

Thanks,
Nial
