Air PSI

Ok, this is one of the stupid questions nobody thinks of but me ! The drivers door placard is history the owners manual says read the drivers door placard and the rim is stamped with 80 psi Max the best I can get off the tire is at 80 psi the load rating is 1550 lbs or its metric conversion but then says 40 psi max to set bead, what do you guys run on your suburbans for air PSI

That’s kind of weird that it would say max PSI is 80... That’s closer to what a big rig would be running but the Suburban is a pretty big truck… PSI stands for pounds per Square Inch so it's not metric... all I could really think to tell ya is not to run the max PSI... when your driving your tires heat up and that air expands making it well over that max PSI if you do find out for sure if it's 80 or 40 just run a few PSI below the max.

I always run what gives the best ride within a couple pounds of the GM lable. I run 42 psi in my 265/70/16 street tires, and get great wear and not too stiff of a ride. My burb is a 97 K1500 with bilstein shocks. Depending on the tire I've run from 40 up to 45 psi. never any higher it would be like riding on rocks!
