I think I have a bad dimmer switch; low beams will suddenly go out but high beams will work.Sometimes they will come back on by themselves but usually I have to click the dimmer switch a few times or move the entire steering column up and down to get the low beams back on. It doesn't always work and now nothing I do will get the low beams back on. High beams, DTR, eveything else is OK. Is the replacement of the dimmer switch straight forward ( it is one of those multitasking stalks) or should I just take the cover off the steering column and look for a loose wire? I've seen a picture of the part and it looks as if it just plugs in. I'm wondering if the battery should be disconnected or if the air bag is going to go off.Would appreciate any advice.

See me reply to canadian_mofo "noise sounds like signals left on". Sounds like the multifunction switch which controls blinkers, high beams, wipers. Clean the grease from inside the switch and re-apply dielectric grease to to contacts. Disconnect battery before starting. HD-BD
