my g-friends taurus overheats, but not quite, meaning, while driving it gets hot, then seems like a fan kicks on and will cool down again. Ive flushed the system and put a new thermostat in.

I dont think the radiator is blocked, but could be.
I dont know if a switch or fan is malfuctioning.

Is there anything I could try or is the best thing to take it ina nd have the dealer do it?

thanks
joe

Make sure the exterior of the radiator is clean and free of obstructions. Years of bugs and other crud blowing into the radiator will prevent the fins from doing their job.
Try a radiator shop. They will have an infrared thermometer to check the radiator for cold spots indicative of internal clogs.

I have assumed that you had checked the oil and water levels.
