Question for board about carpet

Has anyone ever had a hole "worn" in their carpet with less that 24K miles on the vehicle? My wifes 2002 Suburban has a worn spot just to the right of the gas pedal and about 3-4n toward the rear (spot was discovered at around 22K, but was probably there longer). There is no way that her foot (or mine for that matter) ever touches that spot during driving, but Chevy maintains that is what caused the spot. I raised as much cane (sp) as possible, but got nowhere and finally ended up in BBB autoline arbitration.

The Chevy guy said the spot was caused by the foot rubbing the area during operation and said he had seen it numerous times. My wife and I showed the arbitrator that it was not possible for our foot to rub that area during operation, but would not require the Chevy guy to show a foot position that would cause it. The day after arbitration I received a call from the BBB stating that a vehicle inspector would be contacting me to look at the carpet but I was not allowed to discuss the case with him. To me this seems as though the arbitrator is leaning toward Chevy's position because if the inpector says it appears to be "wear" then without us being able to demostrate our foot position she will probably rule for Chevy.

The thing that bothered me the most is that during the arbitration the Chevy guy actually said that it would have been cheaper for him to replace my carpet than to come to arbitration since Chevy pays the cost. This tells me that Chevy does not give a crap about their customers.

I have owned several vehicles, many with well over 100K miles and none of them ever had the carpet wear through. I have worn through a floormat or 2, but in the area where your heal rests during driving not in an area that is rarely ever touched.
