Code 33 tcfco2005 08-24-2005, 10:48 AM
my car keeps showing code 33 i checked the code and i think it has to do with the maf but i replaced it about 5 months ago....i nocked of the wire that went to the sensor but then i made a new connection for it and connected it....My car also dies right when i start the car if the engine is cold and try to put it in gear. it just slowlly bogs down then dies.any suggestions on what it could be...thanks 89IROC&RS 08-24-2005, 12:28 PM aackkk, dont have time to look this one up right now, ill do my diagnosis after work, in the mean time, where is morley??? ct91rs 08-24-2005, 03:17 PM where is morley??? good question, he's been missing... no good. I bet he'd tell you to replace the MAF power and burn-off relay's. wrightz28 08-24-2005, 04:04 PM replace the MAF power and burn-off relay's. That was my first intuition, HOWEVER, I'm a little lost on this whole wire issue he brought up, I'm assuming the wire broke, and if so how (where)? How was it reconnected? I think that's the key because if I remember correctly, his code 33 pertains to a constant low air flow reading, which a bad wire repair may be interpreted by the ECM as such? tcfco2005 08-24-2005, 04:18 PM the wire came disconected right at the object that connects to the sensor...so i put a now connector on there. And im not sure what the name of the kind of connecter i used but its sliped right onto the maf sensor. So maybe the wire itself is bad? wrightz28 08-24-2005, 04:30 PM It's what I m wondering, bad connection of some sort. Has the light been on ever since the repair? tcfco2005 08-24-2005, 05:41 PM yep...when i was fixing my spark plugs i knocked it off and ever since then....its been on....i disconnected my battery for a while to erase the codes and it didnt show up but then right when i started the car it showed up. ct91rs 08-24-2005, 08:14 PM You might want to take a trip to the junk yard then, and cut off another connector. Just make sure you splice everything correctly, and seal it off good. tcfco2005 08-24-2005, 11:06 PM ok i feal pretty dumb...the broblem was a vacuum tube. i guess when my i pulled out my spark plug wire to fix it i knocked of this vacuum tube. i was looking at pictures of other TBI's MAF and i noticed that tube in the other pictures and i didnt have that on mine....sry about that but thanks for all of yalls help. 89IROC&RS 08-24-2005, 11:51 PM lol, figures it was something like that, good catch, them vacum tubes are hard to make right.
