I have a 98 Windstar 3.8L and lately it is very sluggish starting. At times it acts like the battery is very low on power as it turns very slow. Wait a couple of minutes and it starts up perfectly.
Yesterday the battery light came on and the electrical system started making the lights surge, bright then dim for a few minutes then leveled out to normal. Now the battery light stays on.... What the heck is going on? The battery is brand new (less than 2 months old), the alt is a year old. Any ideas????

I would look at your wiring to alt. and battery first. watch out for green or white residue this needs to be cleaned and check for tightness with conections. get a light lubercant like petroleum jelly for battery connections. check belt make sure the tention pully is operating properly they can freeze up. if all else fails i would look at the alt again. no matter the age. Look, I have begun to experience on my own (the hard way) and it had been said many times in this forum before, STAY away from after market parts on Windstars. Motorcraft, Motorcraft, Motorcraft! VM
