96 Sebring With 2.5 Liter V6 Will Not Start!
After Running For An Hour Perfectly The Car Fails To Restart
After Shuting It Off With Key. The Engine Cranks But Will Not Fire Up. This Has Happened Twice.
The Error Codes Are 11 And 12 Crankshaft/camshaft Sensor. But What Other Problems Could Cause This ?
I Tried Using Starting Fluid And The Engine Coughs And Sputters As Though Its Out Of Gas. But The Tank Is Full.
If It Is The Crankshaft Or Camshaft Sensors Would'nt The Car Shutoff While Driving Instead Of Not Restarting With The Key.
Note On 2.5 Liter The Camshaft Sensor Is Buildt Into The Distributor , To Replace It You Have Replace The Distributor.
Is There A Way To Check These Sensors Through The Wiring Without Removimg Them? Any Suggestions ?
Not Sure What Cause The Car To Restart The 1st Time This Happened. I Tried Starting And Running The Car For 5 Mins Each Day For Several Days, Had No Problem Staring. I Took The Car Out For An Hour Test Drive Came Home And Shut The Car Off
And It Won't Start After Several Days Of Trying. The Battery Is New.

On a 96 Sebring... you probably wanna check all of the following in the order given below:

1 Inspect BATTERY Damaged or faulty battery and/or connections or Inspect BATTERY CABLE Corroded, broken or poorly connected battery cable.

2 Inspect COIL - IGNITION Damaged or faulty ignition coil or ignition coil circuit.

3 Inspect FUEL FILTER Clogged or dirty fuel filter, Inspect FUEL INJECTOR PRESSURE REGULATOR Faulty fuel injector pressure regulator or circuit or Inspect FUEL PUMP Improperly functioning fuel pump or circuits.

4 Inspect WIRESET Damaged, worn, or deteriorating spark plug or coil wire(s).

5 Inspect CONTROL MODULE-IGNITION Faulty ignition control module or circuit.

6 Inspect SOLENOID SWITCH Damaged or faulty solenoid switch or solenoid switch circuit.

7 Inspect STARTER Damaged, worn, defective, or faulty starter or starter related circuit.

8 Inspect NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH Damaged or faulty neutral safety swittch or circuit.

9 Inspect FUSE Corroded, burned, or shorted fuse may be interupting power source or Inspect FUSIBLE LINK Corroded, burned, or shorted fusible link may be interupting power source.

10 Inspect DISTRIBUTOR CAP Loose or cracked distributor cap or Inspect DISTRIBUTOR CAP AND ROTOR KIT Loose, cracked, or worn distributor cap and ignition rotor.

Good luck!

^^^^^Good info, but he has the code for the Crankshaft/camshaft Sensor. That is your problem. It needs to be replaced. Get the battery charged as cranking the ignition over and over will drain it and replace the sensor. If I remember it's about a $90-$100 part.
