Car idles bad, no brakes, exhuast rushing out of tailpipeJimmmy 08-21-2005, 10:50 PM I just recently change the cpi and nut kit on my 1993 jimmy becuase it had trouble starting. After that its been a charm. It's been a month now and all of a sudden, my car wants to die and the brakes don't work. I also noticed the the exhuast is flowing really really fast out of the tail pipe. What could it be? Ive searched the fourms and all i can think is a clogged cat or clogged egr? It only does it once in awhile. But when it does it, its for the whole day. Please help out guys!! blazes9395 08-22-2005, 12:23 AM E.G.R...I would bet on it. wildfireracing 08-24-2005, 01:26 AM the overfueling caused by the previous problem creates carbon which gets stuck in your egr valve, it may have clogged up the hose to it that goes in the manifold. you have to take the manifold off to clean it - you put in a new spider assembly already it sounds like so that has to be the problem. i went thru that, corse that was before we discovered the leaking in the manifold, once we changed that assembly, mine runs great. BlazerLT 08-24-2005, 01:11 PM EGR valve needs to be cleaned and reinstalled with a new EGR gasket. Also, change your oil ASAP. Jimmmy 08-24-2005, 03:19 PM Thanks guys, it was the egr. i should have cleaned it when i did the cpi unit. You guys know your stuff!!! Thanks BlazerLT 08-24-2005, 03:21 PM Hope you installed it with a new EGR gasket. Did you reset the computer? Also, I hope you changed you oil after you replaced the CPI. The fuel in the oil is destroying your main crank bearings. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
