Determiing 6.9 Diesel Condition Canada7 08-21-2005, 06:32 PM
I have one of these and have some reason to think that the care I have taken with it since I bought it (2nd owner) may mean that it is in good enough condition for me to begin repairing the body, which is pretty lousy. I am guessing that a compression test would be a start and a friend said that the fact that it does not smoke is also a good sign. Could anyone please offer any any help or comments as to any other testing that I can do on it beofre I put any more money into the truck? The only problem that I have had in the past dozen years or so is periodic engine failure, that was always traced to timer, relay and glow plug problems. I have made Ford rich each time this happened, but I am now confident, with the help of the members of forums such as this that I can service this problem myself in the future. Thanks in advance. newport759 08-21-2005, 09:08 PM What was it doing when you say engine faliure. i have 1 that will not restart when really hot. Canada7 08-22-2005, 12:14 AM Thaks, newport, but mine is always occurs after sitting over-night. And to Google, please tone down your intrusive disingenous commercialism.
