CassiesMan 08-19-2005, 05:27 PM Hmmm...well, if anyone here is signed up for racing flix, heres the link: http://www.racingflix.com/getvideo.asp?v=1139 -Dont right click save as, jsut do it from the sight. If not, hit me up on AIM or MSNM, and I'll send it to ya... youngvr4 08-19-2005, 06:08 PM bare ass empty- non boost gauge havin evo over the classy, comfy luxuriously fast M3 whats gotten into you? i'm just playin man. but i tell ya i've killed an evo in the freeway and an sti, but the m3 i raced gave me a run for my money, let alone a ricer was driving it, so possibly better driver could have even it out or killed me. not taking anything away from the sti or evo, but unless there modded, there highway speed isnt that great. but there amazing at low speeds, or city racing BullDog71ss 08-19-2005, 06:15 PM No kidden dude...since when do you wan't a japo instead of a German? Evo's can be fast and all, but they are no replacement for an m3! Are you feeling ill today Cassie? CBFryman 08-19-2005, 06:22 PM f*** evo's, pure garbage IMO...over hyped just like skylines... the onlyones worth having IMO are the Evo's you cant get in the US (ie Eva 8 or 9 or w/e that puts down 400+ hp to the ground)... ill take me a nice 333bhp 6speed M3 over an evo even if the evo is faster.... m3's look better (not that evo's look bad at all) have a sexier interior...and if they have lether you can skeet on the seat and just wipe it off...which is usefull because you will be getting a lot more ass than driving an evo... M3=girls thinking you are loaded... girls who like evo's are either 1, ugly asian girls, 2, ugly asian girls, 3, whores, 4, girls who know more about cars than you. so it comes down to girls...as always :D Muscletang 08-19-2005, 06:30 PM German engineering > Japanease engineering Sorry to break it to you but it's the truth. BMW built the engine that went into the Mclaren F1. It actually held world records. No matter how much the fan boys jump up and down there's no way in hell the EVO beat that Yenko so that argument goes out the window. mason_RsX 08-19-2005, 06:52 PM Some of us can't afford bimmers...and also can't afford to fix them when they break down cause we cant drive...lol than again im only assuming most breakable Evo parts are similar to Lancers... TheStang00 08-19-2005, 06:55 PM Evo? id rather have this... :yugosmili CassiesMan 08-19-2005, 07:52 PM See...this is why you all need to sign up at racingflix and dl the video. Its that AMS EVO again, up against a Procharged Z06 with "Forged Internals, AFR Heads, etc., tuned by RWTD" 644whp Vette. EVO wins by about a door length and a half. CassiesMan 08-19-2005, 07:55 PM And when the race starts, the EVO is behind the 'Vette...not turbo lag, no, they honk down with the EVO's nose at teh Vette's door. street_racer_00 08-19-2005, 08:13 PM I'd copulate with a laguna seca blue E46 M3...true story. Is it the same one that would be fixing up the motors that were exploding? Dont get me wrong, I'd love to have an E46 M3, but modibility is just shat. Exhausts START at around one grande, and turbo charge the S54B32...your reliablity level would be worse than a Fords...The E46 M3 is built for all motor power. Again, I would LOVE to have the E46 M3,but its not gonna happen for a bit. Like, after law school and then some. CassiesMan 08-19-2005, 11:04 PM How to get a RELIABLE high hp E46 ///M3 ///M3(Bare bones, now special packages): $55,000 (if your lucky, more realisticly, its about low 60ish) Active Autowerk SC: $10,900. Not including install. Headers: For a E46 ///M...Lets say $1,000, and thats hella optimistic. Exhaust: $1199.00 for the AA. Some cost a whole hell of a lot more. We'll stick with the AA unit for arguments sake. Clutch upgrade: $2000 Those are required, not optional. If we add in the recomended but not required for the SC to work best, then we add Break Upgrade: $2400 So, we add it all up...$72,499. Not including install or tunning time. All that will net you about: 499bhp@7500 rpm 388ft-lbs@5500 0-60 4.2sec 1/4 12.4@116 Thats a reliable dailey driven E46 SCd ///M3. You could bring down the price by purchasing used, but with the problems being had with the earlier E46 ///M3s, I don't think I'd go used with one of those. Now then, lets look at the Evo- Evo VIII, we'll use the MR to drive the price up: $35,000 AMS 2.3L Stroker: $1,995 AMS GT35RL Turbo Kit: $4500 AEM EMS: $1550 EVO VIII Turbo Back: $885 MSD Ignition: $515 Uber Clutch of d00m (Exedy Triple Carbon w/ High Clamp Load Pressure Plate): $3395 Add it all up- $47,840. That doesn't include tunning or install. But those numbers right there will net you not exactly, but something very similar to, the Evo in these vids. Again, dont get me wrong, I would LOVE a E46 ///M3, but when I get one, it wont be my race car, it would be my dailey driver/quick car for unplanned stoplight runs or something like that. The ///M3 is sexy, but having a highpower ///M3 is gonna be much more expensive than a high power Evo. If you offered me either one for free, I really wouldn't know which one I would pick, becuase when it comes down to it, the Evo is faster, but the ///M3 is just that, an ///M. And for my next car, being I will still be a student, the Evo is looking a much better buy. Unless I can get $40k for my car... Skyline_R32_Canada 08-20-2005, 01:05 AM i still dont understand how a ~610 awhp evo is beating a 644 rwhp vette on the highway???? TruBaller46 08-20-2005, 01:17 AM i still dont understand how a ~610 awhp evo is beating a 644 rwhp vette on the highway???? came down to the drivers skill maybe?? dunno Sleepr awd 08-20-2005, 01:32 AM glad to hear it, then maybe cassie, we can trade cars for a night er...forever? turbo2nr 08-20-2005, 01:36 AM i want a evo mr too... damm those sexay ass evos.. i feel inlove with my boys mr, it has tien springs carbon fiber cannards and diffusers, hks hiper exhasut, 3" down pipe, no cats, arc induction box, wabrow 255 intank and a re-flash,, dynoed at 305 to wheels and 292 ft/lb @ 21 psi... car pulls like no body's business.. i mean think about it where are you gona use 600+whp? ill be happy with 350 to the wheels that would make for a hi 12 sec evo.. thats damm fast in my book.. 1 alphalanos 08-20-2005, 01:44 AM The Evo is lighter than the Vette. actually that was just a guess. probably is. 75,000 dollars for a 12.4 quarter? ive heard of brand loyalty but damn....that might be a little too much? if i wanted to i could put 10g, maybe less, into my frikin civic and run better than that. I like the Evo, but ironically, i hate 4dr even though i own one...hatchbacks are still my favorite type of car. DinanM3_S2 08-20-2005, 01:46 AM Cassiesman... You might be able to get a stronger EVO then M3 for the price, but as a daily driver, the EVO sucks. Actually, if you wanted a high horsepower M3, I would stick with an E36 over the E46. There are some incredible numbers coming out of AA Turbocharged S52s. A little over $10,000 gets you their Stage II turbo setup, with 460hp @ crank / 360hp @ wheels, and a S52 M3 shouldn't even cost you $20,000. Then you'd not only have a car that could beat an EVO at about the same price, you would also have an interior Mitsubishi can only dream of. The problem with FI BMW M cars is that the reliability hurts alot. Maybe even as bad as the EVO's :grinno:  Keep it German street_racer_00 08-20-2005, 01:50 AM M3 offers what no evo could ever offer you...and that is sexy nudie sex sex sex! street_racer_00 08-20-2005, 01:52 AM Did you just say you'd have sex with a motorvehicle? I'm slowly comming to accept the fact that I am the only male in teh world that doesn't need a car to get laid... Dinan, yeah, I know all about the glories of the turboed S52, teehee...So very hot. I was just saying in context. Also, as a college student, whatever the hell car I get next, it better still have a warenty, becuase I can't afford to get a BMW fixed if its off warrenty, lol. Right_LiRrr 08-20-2005, 09:37 AM f*** evo's, pure garbage IMO...over hyped just like skylines... Yeah I agree the Evo isn't THAT great a car and I personally would never choose one over an M3 (of course, money issues aside)... ....however, saying a skyline is overhyped like the evo is pushing it a bit. The GT-R is a legend for a very good reason. Just because you live in a country where they are rare doesn't mean you can automatically assume that it can't be as good as it is rumoured. King Of Crunk 08-20-2005, 10:12 AM yeah i don't get how the vette lost....i could understand a stoplight race but a highway race??? weird... RaidenKing 08-20-2005, 10:56 AM I'd like an evo for city driving/races then I think an FD to take on the highway then I'd buy a luxury version for city and highway the vr-4 for city the m3 for highway CassiesMan 08-20-2005, 11:22 AM If I had my way... M3 bad ass dailey driver/street racer RX-7 For a track racer Supra for the highway. But like my sig says, those are my "dream" cars. THe other cars are much more plausible. -Jayson- 08-20-2005, 11:26 AM you know an M3 would be really nice, but i think id take the evo over it as well. And like Cassie, why do so many of you guys try and use your cars to get laid? Shit i drive a cavalier and get laid just fine, if you need an M3 to do that, you got some issues boy. Get a hair cut, take a shower, shave, pluck that unibrow, buy some new cloths. I would go with the Evo for one, its alot more reliable, and i wouldnt be fighting with a BMW dealership to get it fixed. Also the more expensive the car is, the more expensive aftermarket parts are for it. Which is completely ridiculous. I got a good example of that with my car. I know its a cavalier, but its like the equivelant of an SS cavalier. Anways stock a new serpentine belt would be like 20 bucks, now a new belt is 120 bucks. Why so much money to run one extra pulley? I DO NOT KNOW! But thats how the car would goes. I bought a supercharger package for my car for 2,000 bucks. You want a supercharger package for a Mustang, 5,000 bucks. Granit my charger isnt as big. Id take an Evo over a M3 just because of the power potential and reliability. CassiesMan 08-20-2005, 11:36 AM The E36s were reliable as hell, but they had a TON of problems with the S54B32 when the first came out, all the way up to 2003, I believe. Rev limiter not kicking in, and something wrong with the engine lubricants, causing the motor to pull a 13B on steroids...blowing up, but not at 80k miles, like, 5-10k miles. And for a long time, BMW was blaming it on the drivers, and not replacing the motors under warrenty. S54B32s arent exactly...cheap. They got the problem fixed, but still, it makes me less likely to buy a used one. And as it has been stated, modibility isn't the best. Its good, becuase air flow elements will drop your times nicely, but the ECU is turned pretty hars from teh factory, which is way we are seeing very high 12 sec times outa stock ///M3s. I do plan very much on gettting an ///M3, but like I said, its gonna have to wait till after Law school. And I still think its awesome that this Evo beat a procharged Z06. Mediocrity 08-20-2005, 12:31 PM You know... all this talk about picking up chicks in a bmw.. I get compliments on my MX6. When are you boys gonna realize that generally, chicks know little or nothing about whats under the hood? Anyhow, I would say this is a pointless argument.. but it is a refreshing change from US vs. Japanese. Me? I'd rather have an Evo. I couldnt care less about the "sexyness" factor, however.. slapping on some skid plates and some mud tires, I can go have fun in the back roads. And then pull up to a girls house and take her and 3 friends out for the night. CBFryman 08-20-2005, 12:36 PM skylines... GT-R or not, 300 w/e hp they put out isnt all that great...and they weight a ton...Asian AWD cars just have a nac for it. Evo's are fast, yes, Skylines are quite fast, yes...but 100k just to buy one...then you have to have it shipped and legalized? jesus i could be looking at Mid level porsche's at that price (speaking for new cars and prices bassed on one of the larger Skyline importing companies). so AWD Nissan with 300ish horse power or AWD Porsche with 300ish horse power... you know your ar rice boy or asian import bias mudder fooker if you choose the first.... And i dont need a car/truck/vehicle to get girls.. hot girls too...but the more you have running for you the easier it is ;) ...so cassieman...you must live in an area with a lot of dirt bag girls... CBFryman 08-20-2005, 12:41 PM When are you boys gonna realize that generally, chicks know little or nothing about whats under the hood? no but they know the difference between a mazda and a BMW... trust me ;) they could care less whats under the hood... some flip out if you even drive a little fast :cwm27: so really there is no point in having any type of power at all. and have fun burrying your Evo body deep in the mud while my 2wd pickup cruises right through it... stock ride height is WAY too low to do any real off roading... which is why the rally versions are lifted a bit...except for the classes where stock suspension must be used oh also, good luck finding real mudd tires that will fit in an evo's wheel well... Mediocrity 08-20-2005, 12:43 PM ...so cassieman...you must live in an area with a lot of dirt bag girls... If girls base their opinions of you on what you drive, then I would call them the dirtbags. Not to mention, it's not about having the fastest car. The skyline IS a legend. I love the skylines stylings.. It just exhumes "bad ass". Sure you can make cars faster.. but who cares? It's not like you become a better person by having a faster car. you know your ar rice boy or asian import bias mudder fooker if you choose the first When shit breaks, Which one's going to be easier and cheaper to fix? The Nissan or the Porsche? With the recent influx of people putting RB-series engines in their cars, more and more people know how to work on them, more and more people carry parts for them. Parts are getting easier and cheaper to get as well. Porsche? Good fuckin' luck. Don't even start on looks, there's no accounting for taste. King Of Crunk 08-20-2005, 12:57 PM well....if you can afford a porche you can afford the parts.... CassiesMan 08-20-2005, 01:28 PM ...so cassieman...you must live in an area with a lot of dirt bag girls... I could comment in a more extreme fashion than this, but all I'll say is I live in an area where, if you are gonna use your car to get you laid, or at least a factor to help, it better be a Ferrari or Lamborghini, or else you don't have a chance. Money magazine rated my city as the number one city in Texas to live in (FUCK YOU HIGHLAND PARK! 817 IN THE HIZZOUSE!). ANd I would rather have a Skyline over a Porsche. I see Porshes every day back home. Hell, one chick in my school, her first car was a Carrera. Another a Boxter. Porsches are pretty common in my area. Not as common as some of the lower end sport cars like Z06s and Cobras, but still, I'll see more than a handfull, ranging from rat ass 944s to shiny brand new 997 Turbos and what have you, a day. Mediocrity 08-20-2005, 02:20 PM and have fun burrying your Evo body deep in the mud Nowhere in that did I say a word about mudding. Dirt and gravel roads do exist. Mud tires > street tires for those roads. KevinE326 08-20-2005, 02:50 PM if you want to see the vid for free or see the rest of the vids of the evo beating pretty much everything.. goto srvidz.com speed wise: Im still stock and on the highway to 135+mph where we shut down the m3 wasnt passing me and I was slightly pulling on him. I like the m3 but its not worth the money unless you like it for the "sexyness factor" .. in which case you have to much money to spend. I cant comment on reliability other than to say germans usually make kickass cars when it comes to reliability.. and my evo has had ZERO issues... so I would call it even in that dept. And if you need a car to get women you have probs. RaidenKing 08-20-2005, 03:34 PM skylines... How did skylines get brought into the conversation? Anyone rich enough to get a skyline in the US is doing it because he has a taste for the skyline, for a rare automobile or has coveted it for a while (your idea of a japanese fanboi). A lot of people think M3's are the shit and a lot of people dive right into the whole 'pay for the label' deal with European cars just like people run around buying 50 dollar t-shirts from Abercrombie & Fitch and call it taste. As far as a good car getting girls, yah you will get admiration, so what? Admiration will never take you to the next 3 bases and hit you a home run. You would sure avoid a lot of gold digging bitches if you didn't use an expensive car to catch their eyes as well. As for rich bitches vs. dirt bag girls I'd take a fun dirt bag girl over some high maitenance rich bitch any day :p CassiesMan 08-20-2005, 04:09 PM every time I go to srvidz.com, I just get a thing that says SRvidz does not condone illegal street racing, and thats it...no videos or nothin. That's not even remotely on topic... nissanstreetz 08-20-2005, 07:47 PM personally I would much rather have an EVO I'm not sure what the price difference is but I bet it's alot if you put the money you saved into the evo you could make it faster. I don't know but I'm pretty sure an EVO out handles the BMW alot of my friends have BMW's and Lexus's and I'm not really that impressed by it. In the end they just end up looking like rich little snobs because they drive expensive ass cars but are broke all the time. My friends are only like 19 or 20 so it's probably different for you. An evo man you can pimp it out and make it look nicer than the M3. I say take the vo and pimp out it out theres something about pimping out your car and making it look completely different than any other car. My friend has a lexus IS 300 2003 and yeah its nice but man it looks like every Lexus out on the street I don't like that. I personally like driving around and knowing I'm not going to run into anybody who has a car that looks even close to mine and that I can turn heads wherever thats just me though its all in your taste Sleepr awd 08-20-2005, 08:50 PM and have fun with your STD's too ;) i think ur going a little overboard and deserve a good http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/images/smilies/nutkick.gif Right_LiRrr 08-20-2005, 10:08 PM I think he went a little too far when he said the skyline GTR was overrated when he's never even been around one. I mean, I live in a country where we only know the Z06 corvette by pictures and numbers and it doesn't seem overly impressive to me - but I'm not gonna say it's overrated simply because that's ignorant. Cars aren't legends for no reason. street_racer_00 08-20-2005, 10:26 PM Hmmm...seems like what I said a couple days ago stirred up a lot of crap...so let me clarify... An M3 isn't going to help you "close the deal" anymore than a corolla is...but it will get you noticed more than an evo will...even in conversation, you'll get a female's attention a lot easier by saying "I drive a BMW" as opposed to "I drive a nissan"...it's a sad, sad reality, but it's true...Driving an M3 down the street will get more of an "omg" reaction from girls where as driving an evo will get you more of a "wtf" reaction. Right_LiRrr 08-20-2005, 10:54 PM I see what you're getting at street racer but I don't know many girls who can pick out an M3 from a pack of 3xxci's. So it's not so much the looks of the M3 per se, it's just any BMW. Yes BMW will get you girls - but personally, if a chick likes me for my BMW or is any of the top 10 reasons for why she's with me...I'd rather run her over in the Evo :-) nissanstreetz 08-20-2005, 10:59 PM haha good point man girls always say.... And their shop is like a half hour from me. CivRacer95 08-23-2005, 01:55 PM Wonderful. Hook me up then...:) speedthrill 08-25-2005, 08:25 PM bare ass empty- non boost gauge havin evo over the classy, comfy luxuriously fast M3 whats gotten into you? i'm just playin man. but i tell ya i've killed an evo in the freeway and an sti, but the m3 i raced gave me a run for my money, let alone a ricer was driving it, so possibly better driver could have even it out or killed me. not taking anything away from the sti or evo, but unless there modded, there highway speed isnt that great. but there amazing at low speeds, or city racing I totally fully agree here. Man! What's gotten into those brains of yrs. Knock, knock. WAIK UP! lol, seriously though. speedthrill 08-25-2005, 08:36 PM You know... all this talk about picking up chicks in a bmw.. I have a perfect example (and alot more infact) of that too. I was hanging around with a friend and his girl. He was with his dads car; 3000gt vr4. She still liked mine mores then the one of her friends dad. I was like "are kidding me"! It really is a great car that vr4. Black chrome with some aftermarket 5 spoke rims. It's just simply georgious compared to my little bmw. But she was judging it with way other prioreties then real carlovers. F.e the name BMW raises girls heads towards me in conversations about cars and mine in particular with girls around. But to be honest i never abused it. And the girl i'm going with now never chose me because of my car. She only got to know about her and my carloving passion after one month. TheStang00 08-25-2005, 08:46 PM just get a M5, thatll solve any speed issues you might have with the M3... Steiner 08-25-2005, 08:54 PM I'm sorry. I would gladly trade in my Evo for an E46 M3 if I could afford it, but there's no way on God's green earth that a high compression, high revving, inline 6 E46 M3 takes to forced induction better than the 4G63. Without a complete rebuild the E46 can't even safely push more than 10psi. On the other hand you can pump almost 35psi through the Evo's engine before you need to upgrade any of the internals - and even then we're just talking about the heads. There's also no comparison between a factory turbo'd block and a factory N/A block when you start bumping up the boost. I'd also like to point out that the Evo outhandles the M3, E36 or E46, and beats it to 100mph. The M3 is an amazing balance of power, handling and luxury...maybe the best in the world...but it doesn't blow away the Evo until you get up to autobahn-ish speeds. I know a few people who've sold either an E36 M3 or E46 M3 for an Evo or STi and all of them say the only sacrifice in performance is at high speeds out on the open roads. In my opinion the Evo and STi are the poor man's M3...if you can call a $30K car a poor man's ride. :shakehead speedthrill 08-26-2005, 09:51 AM good point there. and an evo or sti is certainly better for trackdays and auto X events i believe. Also it's a matter of preference and taste. If i had to choose it would be the M3, because of my experience with the brand, the love for the brand, the love for the M3, the love for the sound that it makes,....:p but that's just me. King Of Crunk 08-26-2005, 01:07 PM *music starts* "love is in the air..oh love is in the air".....i don't know any other words to that song... speedthrill 08-26-2005, 08:23 PM :naughty: :screwy: :grinno: CBFryman 08-26-2005, 08:56 PM too bad the M3 has a faster 0-60 and 0-100 time than the Evo VIII stock v stock 60ft is all the evo beats the M3 on...and i wonder why that is...maybe because yo ucan drop the clutch at 4000RPM and not brake traction... dont beleivem e, i did a car comparo in the car comparison form.... CBFryman 08-26-2005, 09:00 PM PS i think some of these people need to get off of their Evo Fetish... a great car for the money and easily can be made to walk on an M3 with some boost modifications (35psi my ass) and exaust modifiations...but stock for stock the M3 is the superior car in almost all aspects... power to weight, handleing (AWD's tend to either understeer or drift, or at least the STi i drove did), top end, 0-60, probably 60-0 too... Slo S14 08-26-2005, 09:06 PM It'd be a toss up, I've never ridden in either but I do like the evo VIII a lot :iceslolan Steiner 08-26-2005, 09:11 PM too bad the M3 has a faster 0-60 and 0-100 time than the Evo VIII stock v stock 60ft is all the evo beats the M3 on...and i wonder why that is...maybe because yo ucan drop the clutch at 4000RPM and not brake traction... dont beleivem e, i did a car comparo in the car comparison form.... Yeah I read the thread you started... http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t448285.html Did you start that whole thread just to disprove what I posted earlier? You could have just talked about it in here. That's what forums are for, you know. Anyways whatever bro. You're fixated on bashing Evos even though nobody in their right mind would ever call it a better car than an E46 M3. I know I didn't and wouldn't. My Evo RS is rated at 4.3 seconds for 0-60mph (http://www.forbesautos.com/advice/toptens/fastest.html) and 0-100 in about 12 second IIRC. The M3 numbers I saw were 0-60mph is 4.6 seconds and 0-100mph in about 12 seconds also. To be honest I don't even care. I'm arguing Evo vs. M3 with a guy that drives a Mazda pickup truck. rice(er) 08-26-2005, 11:23 PM just buy the 11 sec used ones for about $30,000-ish dollars, i'd rather have a 11 sec used car than a 13 sec new car (in this case, the corvette and the evo) may i sugguest case closed (-.-) carrrnuttt 08-26-2005, 11:32 PM too bad the M3 has a faster 0-60 and 0-100 time than the Evo VIII stock v stock 60ft is all the evo beats the M3 on...and i wonder why that is...maybe because yo ucan drop the clutch at 4000RPM and not brake traction... dont beleivem e, i did a car comparo in the car comparison form.... You must have an automatic. If you drop the clutch on an Evo at 4K, all you'll do is bog. Dropping is no good by itself, also. Best street launch is at 5K, with a good, gradual, clutch slip-to-grip. CassiesMan 08-27-2005, 01:57 AM I think you are all missing the whole point of what I said... youngvr4 08-27-2005, 01:59 AM i beleive thats igovert's strategy also thats the best thing to do for a launch on your tranny. better that than a 6k clutch dump CBFryman 08-27-2005, 02:34 PM Yeah I read the thread you started... http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t448285.html Did you start that whole thread just to disprove what I posted earlier? And id really like to see an Evo scoot to 60 in 4.2...this would put it in middleish porsche / c6 corvette territory...and i KNOW no 270bhp 3500lb vehicle is going to scoot to 60 faster than 400bhp 3100ish lb car with some pretty stickey rubber in the rear...270hp and AWD or not but hey, what do i know, Mazda isnt even mazda any more...my truck is basically a 3.0l ranger...therefor i am stupid... :uhoh: Steiner 08-27-2005, 02:49 PM And id really like to see an Evo scoot to 60 in 4.2...this would put it in middleish porsche / c6 corvette territory...and i KNOW no 270bhp 3500lb vehicle is going to scoot to 60 faster than 400bhp 3100ish lb car with some pretty stickey rubber in the rear...270hp and AWD or not.. You're the one who started magazine racing. You dug up some numbers and so did I... http://www.forbesautos.com/advice/toptens/fastest.html I really don't care what car you drive, but it seems unusual to me that a guy without an M3 or Evo is so well informed and has such strong opinions of both. BTW...I could be wrong, but I don't think the original poster meant for the title of the thread to be taking literally. It's sorta like saying "screw Carmen Elektra, I'm getting me some Serena Williams" or "screw Lobster, I'm getting me some steak and patatos". This is silly. CassiesMan 08-27-2005, 04:37 PM I only used the title to get attention, and becuase I've never seen an M3 beat a procharged Vette...actually Ive never seen the two race, but meh... CBFryman 08-27-2005, 06:49 PM ive ridden in both, ive seen M3's beat cars with ease Evo's had trouble with. However i have seen a new Evo beat an older M3, back when the M3 had 200 some odd hp... Doesn't necessarily make you right, as both cars are engineered by people WAY smarter than you'll ever be, and both are raced professionally by drivers that you will never be close in skill to. It's about preference, and I see you'd prefer to be an ass, so be it. Opinions are like assholes, you know? CBFryman 08-27-2005, 10:29 PM And this makes you an expert on both cars? It's about preference, and I see you'd prefer to be an ass, so be it. Opinions are like assholes, you know? i was in no way an ass untill some one decides to be an ass to me, point and case, here. now as far as skill is concerned, no i will never race profesionally and therefor dont need to be able to handle an evo or M3 at 100+ mph like its a walk in the park, skill has nothing to do with research, i had a point and case with facts to back it up along with other people to back it up along with some basic knowledge of power to weight ratio's. i never denied that an evo was a great car, as a matter of fact i will openly state, for the quadbillionth time, the Evo is clearly the better perfomance vaule of similar age and milage, however the M3 is the better car, it has been proven, these claims of a 4.2 0-60 by an AWD with 271bhp coming from an engine with a peaky power curve that weighs 3500lbs :headshake laws of physics do apply to japanies engineerd cars too... The heaviest Evo (the '05 MR) weighs 3285lbs. The Evo that pulled that real low 0-60mph time I posted earlier was an '05 RS. It weighs 3197lbs because it's a stripped down version...no wing, no road insulation, no stereo, no power windows/locks, no ABS and no trunk lining. The E46 M3 coupe weighs 3415lbs and the E46 M3 convertible weighs a wopping 3781lbs. CBFryman 08-27-2005, 10:54 PM the Evo also has to account for driver ;), assumeing a 200lb male that is nearly 3400lbs, and thoes are not always true curb weights, my truck has a "curb weight" of like 3500lbs but you think it weighs 3500lbs with no driver and no stereo equiptment? doubt it. carrrnuttt 08-28-2005, 02:35 AM the Evo also has to account for driver ;), assumeing a 200lb male that is nearly 3400lbs, and thoes are not always true curb weights, my truck has a "curb weight" of like 3500lbs but you think it weighs 3500lbs with no driver and no stereo equiptment? doubt it. Oh shaddap! :loser: J u s t s a y i t . . . "I don't like Evo's..." NO fucking "I don't like Evos because I sat in one, and my buddy farted, and lost to a Pinto." QUIT qualifying the shit. AND trying to pretend like you're being smart, while you're at it, with your "in my head" math figures. The part about you not liking Evos, or liking BMWs over it, is understandable - it's the 2nd part, with magazine-racing, and the qualifying bullshit, that gets annoying. THAT was the point of my last post, which no matter what fucking vocation you are "planning", or are already taking, is obviously WELL beyond you. JEESH.
