Quick background. 1997 Suburban. I had a catalyst below threshold code. I replaced exhaust from manifold to tail pipe (cats, os2 sensors, mufflers and all pipes. Fuel pump died 2 mo ago, replaced it. Started getting misfires, replaced distributer cap, button, rotor, plugs, wires. Was running well. Occasionally got a misfire on 7 as detected by my atco reader cp9135. However I was cruising down the road, hit a set of RR tracks that was a pretty jarring bump (I've had worse ones though). Suburban quit running. Fuel rail not putting out much at all (if anything really) I do not hear the whirring sound from fuel pump when i turn ignition key. What is even more odd is it wouldn't start with starter fluid. To make matters worse the Atco reader now displays Link Error. It won't even communicate with computer. Two days before this I got vehicle inspected and they communicated just fine. It almost sounds as if a few things went wrong at the same time but seems like they should be interrelated. I also switched out fuel pump relay with no change. One more thing of note is that the MIL is not lit with key in on position before cranking position. Any help please? I'm at my wits end and I'm losing my hair lol.

Check all fuses, then check the connection at the PCM. The fact that you are getting a link error, you need to make sure the PCM is getting power.

Thanks bro. Appreciate the info. Vacation starts for me tomorrow so I'll have to wait until I get back but that is where I'll start. Curious though doesn't the ignition trigger the fuel pump or is that also controlled via pcm?
