i need some help on some rimsjays87 05-03-2002, 11:11 PM :frog: ok so this is the question. i am going to be getting some rims and i wanna know wut you guys think. I am thinking about getiing 17x7 and i wanna know if it takes away any power and also will they fit without rubbing...? this is important cause i need to know before i find out the hard way you know what i mean? 1987 honda accord lxi 4 door neon interior lights(blue) neon windshelid washer lights(blue) aem intake jvc cd player and pioneer 6x9 speakers in the rear kenwood 61/2 in speakers in the front neon racing pedals(blue) Future plans....... white paint job 17x7 adr rims neon under body lights american pro 12 in subs tinted windows 88-89 honda bumbers wit a crx lip 2.25 in lower :finger: TreadTight 05-03-2002, 11:25 PM hey jay, okay from experience going up in rim size definitely reduces power...you should be okay though as long as you put in an air filter. aesthetically rims make a car look better but the air filter should really be the first under hood mod you should make. and on my civ, it doesn't rub....good luck with that bud. peace:grey: RedRocketGSR 05-05-2002, 11:56 AM Yea, it's gonna take away some power because the rims are bigger and it takes more force to move them than a 15" wheel we'll say. As for mods, your probably gonna need more than an intake to make up for the lost power. If you were gonna do it anyways then i would get I/H/E. SleeperTeg 05-05-2002, 02:52 PM ahhhh......it all depends on what kind of wheels you get. My new wheels (17") come in just a hair under my stockers (15"). I have noticed no loss in power. It just depends if you are looking for performance or looks. jays87 05-05-2002, 03:06 PM well the 87 accord has 13 in rims so i am makin a big jump here but i am mostly lookin for looks at the moment but i no i am going to be going with ADR sokudo 8 but wut is i/h/e....? o yea the other dilema is my bumbers i wanna change them from 87 to 88/89 but i need some help on getting them cause around here its a arm and leg to get 2 damn bumbers peace onesojourner 05-05-2002, 05:38 PM WHOA guys its not rim size its weight. if your wheels are heavier then what you have on youll notice a loss in power mostly in 1st and 2nd plus youll notice a drop in mpg. find out the weight of you stock wheels and of the ones you are planning on getting. as far as rubbing umm well stock no it wont rub when you drop it the 2.25 that you want maybe if you get coilover you can pick the perfect hight that you dont rub. and you can also roll your fenders if you dont know what that is run a search. onesojourner 05-05-2002, 05:39 PM oh and Intake/Header/Exhaust SleeperTeg 05-05-2002, 06:54 PM what is a 'bumber'? i know a bit about cars, but have never heard of a 'bumber'. jays87 05-05-2002, 09:24 PM i ment to say bumper but i thik the rims weigh about 19 lbs somethin like that but i already have the exsaust and i am planing on headers whn i get the money also i got a aem intake so i dunno wut else i really need i am going to get an ignition box peace SleeperTeg 05-07-2002, 11:17 AM Only dump the money on an ignition upgrade if you know for sure that you will be going FI..... grrltoy 05-07-2002, 12:32 PM vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
