Hi everybody, Big Nathan. I just took my Jeep Grand Cherokee 6cyn 4.0 in for a major tune up (so was the term used by the service manager at the dealership) as part of beginning a regular preventive maintenance program. The question I wanted to ask is this, just what can I expect for the $300.00 clams I'm going to have to shell out for it? The service manager said besides plugs, that they would go over it with a fine tooth comb. What ever that was supposed to mean. Yeah, that's what I thought too. In any case I just wanted to get a general idea and consensus on what to expect, so as to have something ask this guy or, look for when its over. Any feedback would be a big help. Thanks, Big Nathan.

What you get for the 300 clams besides the plug change depends more on the dealers set program than anything else. For that money, I would expect a dist. cap and rotor at least (if it has them). Probably wires would be extra. They should also scope" it and check the emissions with a gas analyser to make sure it will pass any govt inspection.

After that your paying for them to clean the battery posts(maybe), check the fluid levels, lights and look for more repairs to sell you (that you may or may not need).

Ya - I'm a "little" cynical about most shops. Thats one reason why I do my own work - That and because I can............

JDPascal, Big Nathan. JD, I really appreciate the feedback. And just ask I suspected, you happened to concur; Meaning, not really anything near worth
the $300.00 clams I shelled out. Yet you kno' JD I thought what the heck, I'd at the very least if any, have an idea of what maybe to expect. Then again it is my JGC first tune so why not. Yeah I know, I probably could got it done cheaper if I'd took alternative route. No doubt as far as parts are concerned, much more bang for the bucks I'm putting out. Ah well, tommorow's another day. In any case Thanks JD, for the quick response, it was a big help. Big Nathan....
