inertia switch problem
gunslinger136 05-03-2002, 07:58 PM im having a problem with the inerti switch on my '86 thunderbird 2.3L turbo coupe. I thought there was an override switch that would allow fuel to flow again when tripped. i cant find it. please help. it takes several hours to be able to start again. it only happens after i stop the engine every once in a while. Murco 05-04-2002, 08:20 PM This is the model car forum but I think there is an override switch on the driver's side of the trunk. Good Luck! CarlSpackler 05-06-2002, 05:07 PM You have to pull back the trunk matting to get at it, but its there, drivers side. TheMystress 11-06-2002, 01:15 AM If the car will eventually restart, it isn't the inertia switch, but the fuel pump itself. TerminalVelocity 11-06-2002, 05:26 AM chalk another one to TheMystress When that cut off is triggered, it wont allow ANY fuel into the system, so you cant start it, run it or anything but crank it. Your pump probally is bad, possably you have low fuel pressure....check your seals and lines inside the bay, maby you have a cloged fuel rail, or a bad fuel filter.
