97 Trans Sport How To Take Out Air Bag ??

:disappoin I have a 97 trans Sport ...The horn does not work all the time ...I figure I need to clean the horn contacts in the steering wheel BUT I have to remove the AIR BAG to get to it ...I have the Haynes manual it says to poke a screwdriver under the air bag and release the clips ??? I Disconnected the air bag fuse , removed the back piece to the steering wheel and tried and tried to get the air bag loose and all I got was very nervous poking around the air bag with a screwdriver !
Has anyone done this ? is there a trick to it ? THANK YOU ! BOB IN MICHIGAN :smile:

Have you tried swapping the horn relay (under the hood) yet?

You might want to give it a try before you take the air bag out. Just a thought. The same type of thing happened to my Venture, except it was the A/C relay. See link below.

I swapped the relay and the horn worked fine in the garage so it may be a bad relay . I will try it a few days and keep an eye on the AC now... Thanks for the good suggestion ! BOB
