1995 Ford Escort TaillightsSpiffy62004 08-15-2005, 07:47 PM I have a 1995 Ford Escort wagon that I am trying to sell but have run into a problem with it. The taillights will not light up when the lights are turned on. The breaks, hazzards, turn signals, and reverse lights all work fine. I have replaced the fuses and the bulbs in both and have no idea where to go with it now, I have a buyer for it and he will only buy it if I can get it fixed :-/ .....can anyone please help me? escortgt 08-15-2005, 09:56 PM try cleaning the contacts on the inside of the socket, sometimes they get gummed up and won't make contact. KimMG 08-16-2005, 01:13 AM Are the dash lights working? Are you geting power to the light sockets? If yes, then check the ground connection(s). AzTumbleweed 08-16-2005, 08:10 AM Do the side marker lights work? If so, splice into them for lights  chevyn0va1 08-16-2005, 08:19 AM try cleaning the contacts on the inside of the socket, sometimes they get gummed up and won't make contact. Yes you could also conferm they are the right bulbs and that if they are correct that they are not blown. Like if its a two stage light make sure both filiments are good. AzTumbleweed 08-16-2005, 09:22 AM Make sure it is the right bulb. There is another bulb that looks the same but won't work. The correct bulb I believe is 1157 or 3157. The 1156 and 3156 look the same but don't work. Escort_Service 08-19-2005, 01:16 AM Look for your grounds, there the usual problem. If they get loose and its a hot day the coating that the factory puts on will get between your contact and the wire causing it not to work. From what I understand it is a single ground point for rear assembaly in the 95. Also this might me a long shot, but I had feul pump problems cause of the ground point I picked for my sub. If you have a stero try moving the ground point. The tail lights will use less voltage then a system will and can sometimes interfear with other ground points. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
