stock stereobulldog01 08-15-2005, 04:41 PM I just bought my first Jeep this past weekend, I got a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. I had a couple of questions about the stereo. This Jeep has the 10 disk changer in and it also has the infinity 36670 amplifier, with the infinity speakers. I wanna keep the stock stereo and also the amp in, but I have a 12" subwoofer and a rockford fosgate amplifier. I was thinking before I could've just used the high level input that is on my rockford fosgate amp and then just splice into the back two speakers, since I'm guessing the stock stereo doesn't have rca connectors. But now since I've bought it, I'm not sure what to do with that other amplifier already in there, I'm guessing theres a couple of wires there I could maybe splice into? Or does anyone have the wiring diagram for that amplifier, cause I wouldn't even know where to start. I know theres the two plug ins, but thats about it. So any help on this would be great, I just wanna know how to get my sub and amp in there without taking out any of the existing equipment. Thanks. bulldog01 08-15-2005, 09:55 PM anyone? SteveB05 08-16-2005, 02:54 AM Yes, there are high level inputs into that amp that you can tap off of. I don't have a diagram for the 2000, but I'm sure they're out there somewhere...if no where free, try http://www.alldatadiy.com bulldog01 08-16-2005, 08:37 AM While there might be high level inputs for that amp also, I don't know if it will have enough power to do both the speakers and the sub. I know with the high level inputs on my rockford fosgate, I was told that I could've just took those four speakers and spliced into the back two speakers, instead of running RCA connections to the stereo. So I don't know if I can just find the 4 wires for the back two speakers that are already going into the amp and just splice into those, or if that will put to much of a load on that amp, I'm just not sure how to hook these two amps up together, or what wires are what for the factory amp. Or maybe I don't even need another amp and can just hook up my sub to the amp that is already in the Jeep, I'm just not sure where I would hook that up, or if it would have enough power to do it. Anyone know what the total power of that amp is? SteveB05 08-17-2005, 03:21 AM The amp is 180w. I personally wouldn't splice in after the factory amp, but would tap into the input side. BTW, I believe the head unit is somewhere around 60w. I did find a wireing diagram located http://www.wjjeeps.com/radio_systemdiag4.jpg bulldog01 08-17-2005, 09:34 AM Ok, I'm still not sure if I understand this or not, on my sub there is the high level inputs, which consist of four wires. Now what four wires were you suggesting that I splice into, not sure I know where or what the input side is? Also I'm guessing there is no way to run my sub off of the existing amp? SteveB05 08-17-2005, 09:41 AM On the diagram I linked earlier, it would be 5, 6, 15 and 16 on the C1 connector of the AMP connected to your high level inputs. You can draw your power signal off of 13 on the same C1 connector, but run dedicated power and ground leads. bulldog01 08-17-2005, 09:42 AM Anyone out there that has hooked a sub and amp up to their existing infintiy system? If so how did you do it? bulldog01 08-17-2005, 10:58 AM Hey Steve, Thanks for all the info, I will try hooking up my rockford fosgate amp, by taking the 4 high level input wires and conecting them to 5,6,15 and 16. Which looks like it should work out. Really wasn't all that familar with the wiring and how to do it, so just wanted to make sure before I started to hook stuff up, but looks like this should work now that I look at it some more, will try this weekend and see what happens, but thanks again, you don't know how many hours you've saved me. bulldog01 08-17-2005, 09:42 PM One other question, where would I go with the REM terminal, the wire that turns on and off the amp when voltage is applied, guessing this might be the wire 13 you were talking about, also I'm guessing I can just splice into these wires when I connect the high level input to these 4 other wires already on the existing amp? Then I just should have to run my ground and my power to my battery, right? SteveB05 08-18-2005, 01:36 AM Yes on all counts. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
