have a 96 grand cherokee 4.0 litre. died while driving and no restart.
cranks ok,no communication to scan tool,no spark,no fuel pump relay or
auto shut down relay activaction. instruments do not read(volt meter,
oil,tach,fuel gauge. tried a known working E.C.M. made no difference.
has power to ECM and all outputs at ignition switch.
other accessories in car work OK.

Does your CHECK ENGINE light come on when you turn the key to the ON Position?

Does your CHECK ENGINE light come on when you turn the key to the ON Position?
(from converter 45) went through some of the other listed problems,and
found one that sounded the same as mine.
I replaced the crank position sensor and to my suprise,everything came
back to life and solved the problem.

This is the reason I asked if the CHECK ENGINE light comes on when you turn the key. When the CPS goes bad the CHECK ENGINE light usually will not illuminate.
