i need a ballpark price for swapping out the 3.8 to a 350 small block, changing the drivetrain to RWD, the cost of parts/labor including the engine/tranny/ect.

WOW

I think it would cost ALOT you would exceed any value in the heicle with the cost of parts!
But to not leave you with a useless post here is some reseaarch I have done! You can find the prices for the part mentioned (www.Car-Part.com)

"Well for starters you would have to hack up the firewall to fit a 700r4 in there! then make a custom engine cradle to spin the engine from tranverse! Making sure to leave room for the. Then get yourself a camero rear end! find a way to get it hooked up to the monte! Move the fuel tank to a safty fuel cell in the trunk. Now you will have to find a new locaction to put the exhaust and fuel lines! You would need a seperate controler for the trans and new linkage system to shift with! You might be able to get the floor shifter to work, I Don;t really know.

Don;t even try the cady swap! Although possible as I'm watching right now it is very cost/ratio not a good deal!

Basicly with the cady you would need custom axles, heavy modifications to the engine cradle. The engine will have to be lift from the bottom of the car. cause the tanny is too wide for the bay. And then to hook it all up! :Yikes:

7k would be low think more like 10k. But that would include a engine rebuild (no point in putting in a shot engine)The cradle modifications would be extensive and unless you are a good tig welder (Or if you have the aluminum cradle....even more) There goes a good chunk. Clearance for a rear diff.....Man the list is almost endless. And seeing the monte are uni-body there is limited space to work!

A good project for that second car, Yes
A resonable swap for a daily driver, No
Cool to see, Hell yes
Would I want to pay the tab, No

Good luck

I personally have never seen the rwd conversion with 350 so that is the one I am going to go with!

The caddy swap would be alittle easier seeing there are alot less modification that would be needed to achive such a swap!
