Hi just purchased a 94 Lancer with a 12 valve 1.5L carby engine in it. I want to put an exhaust and stuff on it eventually but i also want to put a bigger cam in. Can anybody tell me if the camshafts are the same for the carby model, the injected motor, Hyundais which have same engine and the Proton.

yes the cams from the hyundai 1.5 will be the same it will also run better went you do the exhaust i did the same thing used 2 inch exhaust with a turbo silencer at the back

I just got a 2.25" cat back straight through system and it has done wonders to its performance. Did you change your cam as well, do you remember how much bigger it was and did it make much difference. I need to change the timing belt soon so would like to do cam at same time if its worth doing.

No i didn't change my cams i just bore the block out 40thou with some forge piston it ran great but why don't you just cut your cams half race that'll do just fine also what type of cab do you have on

when you say cams I presume yours is a twin cam where as mine is a 12 valve single cam. I wanted to keep my cam std and do another cam incase it was no good and I could change it back if needed. I have only found 1 company in Perth where I am from who has a performance grind for one of these and their grind puts another 10deg of duration on it and thats all. Not too sure what to do

if you are getting cams great 10 degs is fine stock carb should be ok if you don't using some extra gas you could jet up to low speed should give you a faster off the line
