I have a 97 JGC 4.0 straight 6. It was working fine no warning at all and it would not start. had no fuel pressure so we have now replaced the fuel pump with a new one once that was done she still will not turn over so we have now changed the spark plugs, roter, cap battery wires still will not kick over. Though she is trying really hard she just will not turn over. We are getting codes 11 and 12. I am at whits end here and anyone Have any thoughts on how I can get her going again.

does the engine CRANK (spin) when trying to start? It just will not fire up, right?

Do you have Fuel Pressure now since you replaced the pump?

If not, I am gonna bet that you don't have any spark either, right?

If this all adds up then your crank sensor is bad.
NOTE: Some people have also had similar issue when their PCM goes bad, but I would start with the CPS It is alot cheaper and is more common of the 2 problems.

Just wanted to say thank you again. It was infact my CPS and the truck is now starting again. We were thinking a new PCM was going to have to be bought. And had I not found this site that is more than likely what would have happened. SO thank you again.

I have a '94 Jeep Grand Cherokee and recently replaced the starter (that fixed the starting problem), but now it stalls while driving, and people on this site have suggested it's the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CPS).
HOW EASY WAS IT to replace the CPS? In my '94 JGC I can barely see the bolt for the little thing, much less get a wrench on it. Let me know if I need to become a contortion artist to get to it, or if there's some trick or special combination of wrench extensions.
Thanks!

the swivel socket and a couple of 8 inch extentions. then come from underneath left wheel (from behind left front wheel). more easier for people with small arms. also my suggestion is to stick a crumble newspaper page right undernneath sensor to block the bolt from falling in the hole. I was lucky the magnet on the sensor was still strong enough to hold onto the bolt. I could see it already.... a simply replace job turn into a major tranny dropping job or something and all I am is a shade tree mach.
