2002 WONT START (similar to the buzz relay thread)

Okay i have an 02 cavi and it is acting like its not getting any fuel, but we also arent getting any fire. the car cranks over and there is sometimes a buz under the hood i would say about 50% of the time we try to start the car, but the relays are good the coils are good we replaced the IGM and the Crank shaft position sensor we are getting adequate voltage to the relays and fuses and throttle sensor. The fuel pum is priming and you can hear the injectors. but we are not getting any fire. the gaps in the plugs are good to.

The check engine light and the service engine light clears when you crank it over.

So there shouldnt be any codes Right???

We are wondering if it could be the PCm, but that is an expensive guess (just like the IGM)

the only frustrating thing is that the IGM should control the fire up to 400 rpm so the car should technically start ???

but it wont... At first it was sort of intermittent it would start once ever 10-20 trys after the initial problem the night before. But it wouldnt stay running it seemed like once it got warmed up it would die.
now it wont start at all.

the tank is 3/4 full. the only wierd thing I noticed (bare with me I am a female here) Is that when I go to start the fuel guage meter will drop to E and in my 96 when i go to start it stays on the right amount of gas per the guage.

I know that is kinda flaky thing to notice and probably has no baring on this, but heck its a stab in the ever incresing darkness we are getting further into.

i noticed another guy had a similar problem I posted there too.

Is there anyway of reporting this to Chevy and maybe find out if this could lead to a recall?

Try starting with ether to determine whether it's a fuel problem or not.

Seems to me the power to the fuel pump is intermittent. Some models of cavs were known to have poor connections to the pump, and would start after numerous tries. I expect the control systems for fuel would limit spark in the absence of such a condition. Check the wiring to the fuel pump, and if it's present, check the connection to the pump proper. Proving good; then it's likely the pump is faulty; or the fuel line proper is the culprit.
