I have a 2001 outback sport and just moved back to San Francisco. I just bought the car. I noticed that when first start driving the car the clutch sort slips in first and second gear. Once it warms up it seems to be fine. What is going here. Is this the first signs I need a new clutch or an adjustment.

Any info would be great.

Sounds like clutch is bad? Only thing is I don't think it should get better as it warms up, and usually would slip more in higher gears not lower. At least on all the cars I owned this was the case. You might have oil on the clutch. Any oil leaking anywhere?

You know it is the weirdest thing. It stopped doing it. I have a theroy. I was living in this nieborhood that was very hilly. I was parked on a hill and when I drove away I could go down a steep hill. So I think all the oil was polling in the end of the transmission. But I don't know?
