finally heard (and felt) a tanabe racing medallion exhaust.wow.rendog24 04-30-2002, 09:47 PM i was driving home today and i heard and felt something rumbling from behind me and i looked back and about a block, block and a half back comes an accord rolling up. it pulls up next to me at a light. and at idle it is queiter then i thought. the reason i know it was a tanabe is cuz i asked the guy while we were at the light. just had to know what it was and it looked like one to cuz it was so fuckin huge. i loved it. well anyways when it took off i almost wet my pants cuz i felt the ground rumbling underneath me. all i can say is that this just finalized my decision on a tanabe racing medallion exhaust. well just thought i would share my first experience with a tanabe with you. PoisonFangs 04-30-2002, 10:34 PM Thats the kind im gettin for my civic. Was it a weedwacker or deep roar. frankly i dont give a crap cause i just want the noise. BRING THE NOISE!!! rendog24 04-30-2002, 10:46 PM believe me when i say this was no weedwacker. this was the deepest sounding exhaust i have ever heard. this was a very deep roar and i could actually feel my the ground underneath me rumbling. i recommend this for anybody still deciding on a exhaust. PoisonFangs 04-30-2002, 10:49 PM OH HELLZ YEAH, BRING THE NOISE, mine is on its way soon kidrocket 04-30-2002, 10:52 PM i hate loud ass exhaust pipes. To me, those scream, "LOOK AT ME I WANT TO BE HEARD BY ALL TO LAUGH AT MY RICEBOY FARTPIPE" I personally like a quieter exhaust. but if its what you want, go for it. just remember loudest doesnt mean best performing rendog24 04-30-2002, 10:54 PM yeah i know it matters whats under the hood. but when i pop the hood and see the jrsc, which will be my second performance mod behind intake, then we will see.lol:evillaugh iLLuCiv99 05-01-2002, 01:10 AM Originally posted by rendog24 yeah i know it matters whats under the hood. but when i pop the hood and see the jrsc, which will be my second performance mod behind intake, then we will see.lol:evillaugh How about a Garrett t3/t4 snail? http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/731450GarrettTurbo.jpg rendog24 05-01-2002, 01:17 AM is that a turbo or sc? if it is a sc then how much is it, but it really looks like a turbo and i have decided to go with a sc cuz of reliability and i want to keep my engine around for a while. but please more info on the garrett t3/t4 snail. please. maybe that might sway me. dreemkill 05-01-2002, 02:30 AM erm.....your next mod is a supercharger (after a possible intake upgrade..) and you cant tell the difference between a turbo or a supercharger? perhaps you might be biting off a bit more than you can chew ;) thats a turbo.. they are run by exhaust gases...superchargers are belt-driven. sparq 05-01-2002, 03:29 AM Turbo systems when properly tuned DO NOT change your engines reliability. Its when you take a stock motor, and shoot it with 12 psi that you get problems. A properly built and tuned motor can do 20 psi all day long if you got the balls and the pockets to do it. You could add 6-7 psi from a turbo or 8-10 psi with an intercooler and good tuning and still have a perfectly driveable, perfectly reliable Honda motor :bandit: PoisonFangs 05-01-2002, 04:51 PM How much will 6-7 psi of boost knock off of the time in the 1/4 mile. rendog24 05-01-2002, 06:15 PM wont the turbo effect the emmisions? gotta pass cali smog test. VTEC_boi 05-01-2002, 07:12 PM Do some research guys, search through the past posts and read through www.howstuffworks.com (look up turbos, superchargers..etc.). I like the RM, but the first time seeing/hearing it? Good lord you're sheltered! It's the most bought exhaust out there (maybe not, but it's definetly not rare). But, that loud noise is annoying. My friend had his w/o the silencer for a few days before it went in. He has freakin' partial hearing loss. Louder is certainly not better. I do enjoy a nice roar when i feel like it...but still... xivera 05-01-2002, 07:12 PM Originally posted by rendog24 wont the turbo effect the emmisions? gotta pass cali smog test. If not tuned properly, yes. Ball bearing turbo (like APEXi's kit) anyone!? :D rendog24 05-01-2002, 07:47 PM anybody know where to find the garrett turbo? i tried to look on the net and am having trouble. also a cost? igo4bmx 05-01-2002, 08:21 PM I prefer to hear my passenger talk when i accelerate... apexi it is.. piscorpio 05-01-2002, 08:39 PM Another thing to consider is the engine the exhaust is attached to. I have to believe that might have an effect on how it sounds. Something to think about, that V6 Accord (Even if its the 4cyl. its bigger than a Civic engine.) may sound great with the exhaust, but will your little 1.6 4 banger? Im not saying it wont, just something to consider. Oh, and APEXi's turbo definitely looks tasty, I see the APEXi bug has bit more than just me, eh xivera? :D VTEC_boi 05-02-2002, 07:26 PM T3/T4 is included in most turbo kits such as DRAG, RevHard, F-MAX, etc. I also say go A'PEXi Isamu, though it is designed for the D16Z6 - i'm sure you can mess with the piping a bit to make it work with the OBDII sensors. nemesls_2000 05-03-2002, 12:35 AM Originally posted by kidrocket i hate loud ass exhaust pipes. Tanabe makes quality shit! rendog24 05-03-2002, 01:07 AM see this accord was like a 89-90 and it was shitty but it had that tanabe on it. about the only mod and some chrome rims.those were 20's..........naw they tens but he kept em clean.:D j.fuggi 05-03-2002, 10:18 AM you think that was loud... NO. my friend has a 97 civic hatch hybrid w/ gsr motor. no cat. straight piping from header to the tanabe. it is so unbelievably loud! and when the engine revs down, the noise resonates in the piping and sounds so fuckin crazy. a little farty but NOISY and he's quick so i dont consider him rice at all. kidrocket 05-03-2002, 11:43 AM you can be fast and ricey at the same time. look at the vette forum at the ricey C5 vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
