I have a 99 SLT. My right rear wheel gets pretty hot compared to the other three. There is no squeal. Is this a bearing problem or brake? I have discs all-around. Thanks in advance.

It could be either one. Do you hear a growl or have a vibration? Look on the back of the tire and see if there is any gear oil leaking. If it is the wheel bearing, driving it too long will ruin the axle and you will have to buy a new one.

My wife's 99 slt had the same problem. She kept telling me she smelled something hot on the truck but everytime I checked it it had cooled down and didn't smell.
I pulled both rears and dismantled both discs and found that the guide pins were badly corrroded and were causing the rear brakes to stick. I ended up replacing both discs, both calipers and a new set of pads. I also put new guide pins and boots on it. it has been about 1 month since I did the job and have had no problems with the rear getting hot since. you know the saying "Happy Wife Happy Life"
Just my 2 cents worth. Good luck

How much were the guide pins? I had to buy some for my Impala one time. The guy said they were $20. I ended up buying a whole new mounting bracket which included new guide pins and boots for $25 (from the same place). Its hard to believe that they charge so much just for the pins.

The pins came with the new calipers, but before I knew they came with the calipers I priced the pin kit at NAPA and 2 pins and 2 rubber boots were20 dollars canadian.
PS. make sure you use some silicone based grease on the pins. regular grease won't hold up under the heat given off by the brakes. Good luck
