What The Crap Am I Supossed To Do?Julioluko 08-05-2005, 08:50 PM all right here's my beef, I have had mad lifter tick in my 6 bolt, so i thought something might be in the oil pump screen. I just got the oil pan off and what do find... a bearing and oil squiter! plus some little shavings but not a whole lot. I had no problems before this no knock or nothing. So could this be from an other engine or something its kinda big but isnt two seperate pieces, it was 1 with a split in it. It was beat to hell but i got it back into shape and its about an inch and a half diameter. what is it? and should I back flush my system to push out any crap that got through the screen, or should i push it all the way through? scottsee 08-06-2005, 12:53 AM lol, you found a bearing and oil squirter in your oil screen?? thats a first for me. i would like to know how the bearing worked its way out. do you know if it is a rod or crank bearing? do you have any pics? your defently going to want to put that oil squiter back in. you loosing oil pressure without it. i wouldnt recomend running the engine to hard untell its done. that will be one pain in the ass job to do from under your car. i dont think you will beable to get it back on while the engine is in the car. You might beable to manualy crank it over to get the job done. but it will be a tight squise, but might work. Edit> i went out to my 6bolt haning out in my garage and check it out. it might acutally work to do it with the engine in the car. you'll defently need to rotate the crank to the right location to have enough room to bolt that oil quirter back. probably a good idea to retighten all of them while your under their. should be to hard, just oil'e and time consuming!! That bearing on the other hand. lol. Julioluko 08-06-2005, 11:27 AM It cant be a rod bearing because its a 1 piece bearing, so it must be a crank bearing, but there is no evidence of one of those goin bad, its was running fine. Maybe it's a balence shaft bearing, but looking at the bottom end i cant find any evidence of something like this goin wrong. Oh and thank you Scottsee for the info about the oil squriter, hopefully i can get one of those from the dealer. Julioluko 08-06-2005, 11:35 AM OH and sorry about the vagueness of first post i was in a hurry. I have a bad lifter tick because i have no oil pressure on the top of my head but i do have pressure on the bottom, so somewhere its clogged from the shavings from that bearings and i need to pump it out, should i back flush it through the oil pump or push it through? scottsee 08-06-2005, 12:37 PM if it was your b-shaft bearing you could be loosing oil pressure from their too. i cant reamber if it is the front or rear b-shaft that has a oil supply hole for the shaft. i think its the front, not sure. B-shaft bearings are circular. not half shaped like rod or main's. Rods are much smaller then Mains. this is a bad picture, but its the only one i have on my AF gallery. the rest are on my home computer. does the bearing look like 1 &3?? http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/156077fullq.jpg Julioluko 08-06-2005, 10:04 PM Should i back flush the sytem to get any loose debris out or push it through? can i even pump things through the oil pump? Julioluko 08-06-2005, 10:06 PM OH Yes it looks like #1 with out that channel that # 3 has! scottsee 08-07-2005, 12:31 AM does it have to oil supply holes, or just one, where is it located in the bearing? Julioluko 08-08-2005, 08:42 AM there is only 1 hole, 90 degrees from the split, and on the split it looks like there were two small tabs that interlocked to the other side scottsee 08-08-2005, 12:19 PM there is only 1 hole, 90 degrees from the split, and on the split it looks like there were two small tabs that interlocked to the other side I think it's time for a pictuer. Do you have access to a digital camra or scanner? Julioluko 08-09-2005, 09:24 AM YES it is a balance shaft bearing, i shoved a screwdriver up there and could wiggle the balence shaft, yeah so this is probally where im loosing all my oil presure I'm goin to have to take out my whole engine if i want to fix it and put in a ballence shaft eliminator kit, wow does this blow, thank-you scottsee for all your help vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
