Temperature hand elavated and truck smoking some... mag1964 08-04-2005, 06:13 PM
2000 Rodeo 2WD V6 3.2 The last two days I have noticed my truck smoking, it appears to be coming from the passenger side, but not from the engine. I can't really can't tell where it is coming from. There are no warning lights on in the dash. I notice it when I come to a complete stop. Just today I noticed my temperate hand elavating a little, so I turned my A/C off. It seems as though something is leaking possible, then when i stop it causes the smoke or steam. Could this be the water pump, timing belt, or heater coil going bad. Also I notice that the temperature has drops whenI come to a stop, but elavates as I drive. My truck has 134,000 miles and the timing belt has not been replaced. With that exception the truck gives me no problems. I appreciate any comments or recommendation. Thanks! Canucklehead 08-04-2005, 07:51 PM Have you checked the coolant level??? :eek7: If you're seeing steam escape from under the hood it has to be coming from somewhere and that somewhere is the coolant system. Cat Fuzz 08-04-2005, 08:33 PM What does the smoke smell like? Does it smell kinda sweet, like anti-freeze or does it smell burned like burned oil? You could have a valve cover leaking down onto a hot exhaust manifold. If it smells like anti-freeze, it could be alot of things. mag1964 08-04-2005, 10:02 PM checked the coolant all is good, I had a friend look at it and he found that oil is leaking on to the exhaust causing the smoke. Not sure what caused this oil leak, but I guess I need to find my way into a shop in the morning. Thanks for all the suggestions!! mag1964 08-05-2005, 01:00 PM 2000 Rodeo 2WD V6 3.2 The last two days I have noticed my truck smoking, it appears to be coming from the passenger side, but not from the engine. I found out if was transmission fluid leaking out onto the exhaust casuing the smoke. Looks like I need a accumulator cap. From I have been reading this will not be an expensive job. I have soemone doing the job right now. This forum is awesome!! Thanks all! Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
