1996 V6 Rodeo P0401 Check Engine Light leaning 08-04-2005, 01:23 PM
Hello. I have removed the EGR valve and sprayed it with cleaner. Got lots of black carbon flakes. Made sure I cleaned the pintle. Sprayed both holes where the EGR connects (intake and exhaust). Re-installed the valve with a new lead gasket. Still have the "EGR flow insufficient" code. 1) Where is the venturi (d/p) sensor for low flow? Is it part of the EGR valve, or does it read off somewhere else? 2) The tube that goes down into the intake manifold I cleaned using pipe cleaners. Got some off of that. If I remove the intake manifold, is there more to this tube to clean, or should I leave it alone? 3) The main problems with this Rodeo are that it sucks up oil (which seems to be a common problem), has a real hot engine temp, smells like burnt coolant (even though I can't find a leak), and this goofy, recurring P0401 code CEL. 4) Any other suggestions on things I can look at? I don't want to pull the intake manifold off if I don't have to, or replace the EGR valve if there is something else that it could be. Thanks for the help!
