95 Transport Power Window Problem

On my 95 Transport, the driver's side power window will only close part way when the switch is pressed. If I wait a couple minutes and press it again, it'll close a little more. It can take many attempts to close it all the way. What is the likely problem?

The window regulator and window rails have become hard to move and the motor current required to overcome the drag is too high. An electronic sensing protection device cuts the voltage feed out and resets after a while.
YOu should go inside the door and lubricate mechanical components.
It is also possible the protection device has become oversensitive.

Thanks for the advice...I'm still having the same problem (both windows now). Can you advise on the "electronic sensing protection device"? Where's it at?

It is built in the motor casing. However, the auto reset breaker at the head of the circuit in the diagram may be the culprit too and this may explain why both motors do the same now. This breaker is in the convenience center

THere are other similar breakers just beside it and you can swap it for another for a quick check.

I know exactly what the problem is. In these motors, (which are junk from GM parts), is a thermo switch which is to protect the motor from overheating. This will fail prematurely and you think that the motor is bad. If your handy take the motor apart, solder the fuse closed to prevent it from opening the circuit and the motor will work full time. The switch acutally stops the motor when it goes down ( Auto down feature). And no your motor will not overheat, unless you sit on the switch for a hour.
