Starts and idles fine but stalls frequently

Hi

I have a 95 Grand AM with a 3100 V6. The car starts and idles fine but when driving it stalls when you slow down for a stop it stalls. The car will restart fine. The only way to keep it running is to keep pumping the gas petal rapidly.

I've replaced the fuel pressure reg and have tested the coil packs and replaced plugs. I'm convinced its fuel realted.

Any thoughts on what else to look at?

A lock out sensor for the torque converter. Possibly. I had an 86 and a 93 GA that done this. When I came to a stop it would die, but if I took it out of gear it would stay running. To take off I had to left foot brake and keep the the throtle up. It sucked! I dont remember exactly what it was, but it was in the transmission area.It was what I thought expensive, around $300-400. But the problem went away,so I was happy :) I dont do transmission work my self unless it's a manual.Hope this helps ya out !

Yeah, my 95 grand am 3.1 does this also, I thought it was a carbon build up in the carb. but after I cleaned it, all that did was make it idle a little smoother, aslo, mine seems to not go when you push on the petal, you have to step on it 2 or 3 times before it quits, it almost seems like it isnt getting the gas when I push it a little. I need to look in it more, if I fix the prob. I will let you know, becuase it might be the same thing for you too.

I had the same problem with 96 ga. I replaced plugs, crankposition sensor, and ignition control module. Been running fine ever since. I started with crankposition sensor 1st and then moved on to plugs/IGM after that didn't solve the problem.
