Power Steering Pump Replacement

Greetings:

I’m planning on replacing the power steering pump and hoses on my 95 ‘burb. I have to fill the reservoir almost daily now.

I want to order the parts on-line, but I have a few questions about whether I’ve picked the right stuff.

The site I’m ordering from offers hoses for ‘Conventional System without Cooler’, ‘Conventional System with Finned Cooler’, and ‘Hydroboost System’.

I’ve have not seen a ‘finned cooler’ under the hood and I assume that the ‘Hydroboost System’ is some aftermarket gizmo, so I assume that I have a ‘Conventional System without Cooler’ and that these might be the right hoses:

Hose Assembly-Return: Conventional System without Cooler, 17 1/2”, 16mm Male O-ring

Hose Assembly-Pressure: Conventional System without Cooler, 37 5/16”, 16mm Male O-ring & 18mm Male O-ring

Also, do I need to worry about whether the old pulley will fit the remanufactured pump?

I’ve also heard that a special tool is required to get the pulley off the old pump and onto the remanufactured pump?

Thanks

Hydroboost is where the power brake unit is also connected to the power steering pump.

Sounds like you have Conventional System without Cooler.

The pulley should fit the reman'd pump.

Autozone loans/rent the tool that you need. See http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?ForwardPage=/az/in_our_stores/loan_a_tool/pullers_specialized/power_steering_pulley.jsp
