hi,

i just recently bought the cartuning turbo kit for my 2000 grand prix GT.
it is installed and works great! but everytime i "get on it" oil always seems to come out and go through the filter and go onto my engine or dripping onto my manifold and it starts to burns the oil and it smokes and it looks bad haha i was just wondering is there a way i can prevent this from happening if so let me know thanks!

where excatly is the oil coming from? is it the actual oil line to the turbo?

obviously its coming from the breather, id say just put the neck back on..by the way how is that turbo kit running? have you done anything else to mod? i'd like to get one but i want to know how it works

the turbo is running great! but i am afraid to put the stock neck on it because their is probably a lot of pressure in becuase of the horse and torque gains so i am not sure!

I dont know if having a turbo makes it different but it seems to me if you have a PCV valve, adding a breather is just creating a vaccume leak. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Adding is a breather is common practice when adding a Turbo or doing Supercharger mods.

It depends what brand you use. I prefer the one from Casper Electronics.

If oil is still splashing up into the breather, one remedy is to modify the valve cover by adding a oil splash baffle.

So Bob, suppose someone were to use one of those breather caps on N.A. engine. Would'nt that be causing more bad than good by introducing a vacccume leak into the system? I'm not sure of it but just thinking about it that's what I'm seeing.

Breather caps have been used on normally aspirated engines too.

If the positive crankcase ventiliation is working correctly, it will have little or no effect on as to whether a vaccum leak will be introduced into the system.

For example on a Series II 3800, hook up a vacuum gauge to the throttle body and then remove the oil filler cap. Monitor gauge and you will see no change in engine vacuum.

On a turbocharged engine or supercharged with an intercooler or small pulley, as I mentioned earlier its proper to run a breather. Otherwise, you may blow seals, gaskets or have oil coming out the dipstick tube not to mention other places.
