AC Inconsistent

My 95 Grand Am AC works inconsistly. When it is HOT outside, it blows cold aire for about 5 minutes and then blows hot air. I have been told to change out the Low Pressure Switch. Does that make sense and is it difficult to do?

Second, when the AC is running, the car chugs and hestiates when leaving a stop. I have a related problem with it chugging when cruising down the highway at 50-55 MPH. I have been told to check my fuel pump. Does this make sense?

no! almost sounds like the compresser it's self is going out I'm sure that wasnt what you wanted to here. But for AC work you really need a vacum pump to collect those greenhouse gases, which means a professional or at least a garage that takes care of that stuff should look at it.
But the chugging at take off and 55mph sounds like the tranny's electronics, like the torque converter lockout switch or one of several others. Hopfully your trouble is the Ac, its alot cheaper than a transmission, but I wouldnt recomed working on it yourself unless your a HVAC tech. Good Luck and stay kool!

Sounds like your car isn't running well, as far as the A/C it's possible the pressure switch needs replacing but other things could be wrong. Either way the A/C has to be worked on by someone with the proper equipment and know-how. With the chugging I suspect your car isn't running well at low rpm's with a load on the engine it's hard to say if it's the fuel pump, could just need a tune-up.
