Hey guys,

I can't find any info on this. Is this just a "3,000 mile/time to change the oil" light that needs to be reset? If so, how do I reset it?

This is different than my "Check Engine" light. This model has both.

Thanks.

it may be able to be reset just ike the SES. im not that fermilier with the 94 but try pulling the ecm batt fuse (if you have one) for about 15mins. if that doesn't work then reset everything and pull the neg batt cable. these have worked on my 95, they may work on your 94 but im not positive.

Say what? SES = Service Engine Soon light (does it not?)

What trips the SES light anyway? Anyone know?

Service engine soon (yes, ses) is triped by the computer when it detects a problem or error in the system.

Common man, you know this already.

You read this forum and you don't know what the check engine light means?

Jump the service connector and get the code. That will show you what the problem is.

I know what the "check engine" light is. It's on my other vehicles also.

But I didn't know that there was a second check engine light called "service engine soon" that also relates to errors detected by the onboard computer.

There are lots of things that I don't know. Be they common knowledge or not.

But I thank you for your help anyway.

Check engine & Sevice engine soon are the same thing.

paper clipped the upper right two slots to get the codes.

codes: 12 & 23

Code 12 = normal operation
Code 23 = IAT sensor

Checked the IAT on the intake and it was unplugged.

DOH!

Yeah. All except my '94 Geo Metro that is giving me an annoying code 15. I have to replace the head anyway. I hope that will fix this prob as well.

15 is the coolant temperature sensor.

Why are you replacing the head?

It is common knowledge that when the CTS is bad that you need a new head in these models...

LOL

Replacing the head because it is blowing sub 50 compression. The OEM exhaust valves are notorious on the Metro for getting chewed up. Rather than try to replace the valves, I was able to find a nice condition JDM head for cheap ($50).

I am still not sure why the CTS is flagging. Working on it...
