I have a hole some where in my 89 Grand Am. I had a friend who works on cars check under my car and he said he could not feel or see a hole. But there definately is one! My car is pretty loud when I step on the gas. I dont know if the hole is in the muffler, cat converter or exhaust. I saw some repair tapes, pipes and metal pieces for fixing holes at Canadian tire. I dont want to purchase any until I know what size the hole is and where its located. I have had no such luck in locating the hole.

HELP!

Look at your exhaust ( muffler) and see if it's hanging lower or crooked. Many times the metal hanger on the muffler itself breaks and tears a hole in the muffler itself. other places to look are the back side of the muffler and the pipe that connects to the cat conv. if not while the car is running, rev the engine and see if you cna determine where it sounds louder...

Trinity, If you have the duel exhaust set up like my 96 GAGT I ended up with a hole about an inch round at the "y" where the system splits. It took me a while to find it because it was above the weld that supports the "y". I was not able to fix it because of the location. I tried the metal tape but the force of the exhaust, blew the tape right off. I had to take it to an exhaust place like Midas to have the system replaced from the cat back, I hope this is some more help to you.
