Wheel stud broken cubigman 07-31-2005, 07:21 PM
I have 1993 Rodeo V6 4wd. I was putting the tire back on after changing the brakes. When the wheel stud snapped. I also had trouble with another stud on the same wheel. It look as if it was stripped a little. My question is what is the best way to get this problem fixed? I'm open to any and all suggestions  . Can't stand not driving my Rodeo. directory 07-31-2005, 08:46 PM you're going to have to pull the rotor off. laying it flat on the workbench, the studs pointing up. try take a hammer and a hole punch and tapping on the broken stud. the stud should fall out of the back with some heavy forced love. i'd say, just to be safe, replace all of them on the rotor. --B Cat Fuzz 07-31-2005, 10:03 PM Also, don't over-torque the lug nuts. This is what causes the stripping of the threads. You will most likely need to seperate the hub from the rotor to install the new studs. Get new lug nuts for any studs that the threads appear to be messed up on or you'll just mess up the new studs. Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
