Hey guys. I am thinking of swaping my 84 22R for an 85 22RE. Anyone else attempted this or have any tips?

What's the difference between the two motors?

It's very common to swap a 22R (carbeurated) engine for a 22RE (EFI) engine.

You will need the wiring harness from the donor vehicle (including ECUs, sensors, etc.), as well as the fuel tank (which has the fuel pump mounted inside) and the high pressure fuel line. there may be a slight difference in inst panel clusters, so you may want to grab that also.

If your 84 was made after 8/84, you may be able to just swap the intake systems and wiring, as they should have the same later model Laser block engine.
