HELP !!!!!! I have a 95 GA, running great 200k miles, and ran like a charm until....... Started it up one morning then had a moment of panic about whether I'd put the dog in his kennel, switched off, went into house, saw dog in kennel, went back into garage turned key and lo and behold, the bugger won't start. Cranks over, seems to be getting a spark cos I yanked that weird cover off, laid it on rocker cover and sparked when cranking. Roomie is a smart girl and she said petrol not getting thru. Now, lacking in some tools I decided easy way to see if petrol getting through would be to turn it over a lot with plugs disconnected, working on theory they'd get wet. They did not. Good assumption or am I a dopey Englishman after all? Now, I don't have fuel pressure tester, and quite frankly, the haynes manual isn't all that clear about what is where. Fuel pump does it's thing when turning ignition on. I have a tendency to think ECM may be goosed, but open to any suggestions. I'm too cheap ( broke ) to have a mech look at it. Thanks in advance.

There are two possibilities. First, if the car is getting spark then we can rule out the ignition system. I believe you have a problem with the fuel pump. First, the pump may be turning on but it may not be pumping at enough pressure to allow the injectors to work right. The other much cheaper solution is to remove the fuel filter and replace it. Also replace the fuel pump relay under the hood. If neither of these works then the possibility of a fuel pump replacement is quite great and the only way to fix the car.

Turn the ignition on, don't start the car, listen for the fuel pump to turn on for approx. 2 seconds. If you hear sound from the pump, the realy is good, change the fuel filter. If you don't hear noise when you turn the ignition on, try changing the relay its under the hood on the passenger side near the fire wall with a cluster of 3. 2 of the relays are the same, swap them as one of them is the fuel pump relay.
