Just in the morningWV dodge 07-26-2005, 10:05 PM Have a 97 Dodge dakota. starts and rund great for 4 to 5 miles. come to a stop it dies or idel goes way down then takeing off againe it jumps and jerks . in the evening on way home runs fine any ideas thanks theFREAKnasty82 07-26-2005, 11:09 PM what's the temperature like that time of morning? you could have condensation forming inside of your intake manifold or getting in there from a craked intake snorkel; check your snorkel first and make sure it's not cracked. WV dodge 07-27-2005, 07:39 PM The temp has been in low 60s, with kinda a heavey dew in the morning. this sounds dumb but where can i find the intake snorkel? not to good on newer trucks. know where intake. and couls it be possiable the distribotor drawing dampness? thanks for the help oh this morning it was 75. theFREAKnasty82 07-27-2005, 10:59 PM the intake snorkel will be the plastic/rubber tube that connects your air filter housing to the intake manifold. Make sure you don't have any cracks in that rubber tube that would allow moisture to settle into your intake. WV dodge 07-28-2005, 09:15 PM darn i felt dumb after i found out where the snorkel was. no cracks checked it 3 times. this has me puzzeld could the distribotor cap be drawing dampness? and i thank you for the fast replysand thankfull for the help theFREAKnasty82 07-29-2005, 08:31 AM the next alternative is that you may have a distorted intake manifold gasket, thus allowing moisture to slip in and cause the rough start/run that you encounter with your engine. If moisture would get in your distributor, it could cause what you're having but more than likely you're truck wouldn't start if moisture was in the cap. Also check your air filter element, make sure no moisture is getting in there. WV dodge 07-29-2005, 09:33 PM ok ill check that to. one thing i noticed was when i stop and take it out of gear and let clutch out the idel goes way down and may die. i ve been stoping along the road befor i get to the stop to see what it does abought half mile short. realyey does it bad when clutch is out. hope that made sence and thanks againe Gizmokid2005 07-31-2005, 11:32 PM Check your EGR valve, it might be bad. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
