Water on passenger side.

Hello. I have a 1997 Grand Am and I get a lot of water on the passenger side when using the AC. I know it is the water that condences from the AC tubing. Another thing I know that my drain is not cloged up, but I still get water.

My and my dad tried to fix this so we took the whole dashboard off and we found the pan which water drips onto before going outisde thorugh the little drain hose. The problem is everything looked fine, the pan was in a good condition the drain is cloged up, all the seals are good. So we put it all pack together and just in case we put silicone all around the assembly so the water doesn't leak there and is forced to go out of the drain. But the problem is I still get water drtipping down. After using AC I can see it my self dripping from where the pan is. Some of it does go out the drain, but some goes into inside of my car. Puting silicone created more problems too because now my driver side gets wet too since I guess water doesn't come out right away on the passenger side and just goes wherever its easier for it.

Does anyone know why it does that? Is it possible that my ac condences too much? Can I fix it somehow, like by adding insulation around the pipes? Also can a freon leak cause more condensation?

Sorry this was long, but I really don't know what else to do, and the problem is such a hassle. I always drive with out my passenger seat now with carpet lifted up and a towel ont he floor. It sucks.

You mentioned twice that the drain *is* clogged up. If that's so, then the water is not running to the outside of the vehicle. Instead, it is pooling in the pan until it overflows the top.

Yea you keep mentioning the drain is clogged, you HAVE to unclog it.

You will continue to get water in the passanger side until the drain is unclogged. Can I ask why you did not unclog the drain when you where working on the A/C drip pan? After you open the drain I would use a wet/dry shop vac to get up the water from the passanger side carpet, If you don't get rid of the water it can lead to a mold build up and an cause an smell that is hard to get rid of.

I feel like an idiot. I meant to say that it is not clogged up. That was the first thing I checked. Sorry about that.

You should probably get rid of the sealant that you and Dad added. Check the drain tube again, make sure that it is fully open and make sure that the pan is connected at the drain tube properly. I don't know where ou are located at but in our area in western PA. we have had very high humidity for the last few weeks, that may account for your extra condensation and if the drain is not open all of the way it may be a combination of that and the humidity.

Is there a water spot on the driveway or ground when you park the car after the A/C has been running? If not then it has to be a drain tube issue.

Check it out and let us know.

Yeah I took the sealent off since it just made it worse. I know the drain and the pan are fine. And yeah there is a puddle ont he ground from ac drain.
