The air conditioning fan in my '96 Pathfinder has recently started making a noise that sounds like a baseball card in bicycle spokes. The noise is coming from down by my glove compartment. Has anyone heard anything similar? Any solutions?

I had the same problem with my 1991 Pathfinder and all it turned out to be was a leaf that had made it's way through the cowl vent down to the squirrel cage fan of the ac/heater blower. The noise eventually went away but if it is really bugging you I'm sure there's a way to gain access to the fan. Sorry I'm not familiar with the 1996 set-up but on my 1991 the blower motor is directly under the glove box. There's a black plastic and foam noise insulator that covers the motor. The 1996 model is most likely the same. Good Luck
