1984 Camry Need help making it go FAST... I have a 1984 camry And i want to know what kind of mods i can do to it.

Forget it... Dude buy a car with more performance possibilities.

Best possibility would be to try to swap a 3S-gte in it.




On the engine you have there are no options. Intake & exhaust modifications don't gain enough to be worth the price on most Toyota engines. Only thing that would make any differance N/A without costing out the arse would be to have the heads ported & polished.


You can look up a thread a few weeks back I posted about adjusting the AFM spring. That'll give you a tiny bit better gas mileage, and more mid/top rpm performance. Not much... But enough to keep the M/T S-FE blocks from bogging down.

Shoehorn a big block in it they make brackets and other mods to make it fit if you want to spend the cash

Why would you want that to go fast anyway? It wasnt designed for it, and even if you did make it fast you would need to rebuild almost the entire car.

For the same reason you have a carbon fiber hood on the car in your sig.

Of course he can....but for the money he could easily buy a better car to start with then do some minor work and be worlds ahead in terms of performance than the Camry ever could be.

I drive an 87 toyota camry and i know it's hard to believe, it has some room in it for a 302 v8. Don't believe me?? I didn't either until I saw one on Miami beach car show. There was a ford focus and an 88 toyota camry (88 and 87 have same body). What's up??? 87 TOYOTA CAMRY WITH A TWIN TURBO 302 FORD PERFORMANCE RACING ENGINE DOGGOMMIT!!!!!!!450+ponies put to a replaced rear end. Ofcourse it took alot of fabrication, and helluvalot of welding (especially the mounts). It turned out to be a beast bred through both japanese and american. I might try it when i go to my uncle's shop in about a year. i might not drop a twin turbo but getting a 302 is no problem thanks to @$$ load of junkyards in opalocka area near miami.

To convert the FWD Camry platform to the AWD turbo Vista (JDM) drivetrain takes $9,000 in used parts alone, not counting the fact that an entirely custom rear frame / geometry needs to be designed & built to spec, a fuel cell installed, new exhaust...

Both frame supports have to be cut out of the front of the car, the firewall has to be cut out & replaced / refabbed.


The 3.4L 5vz-fe v6 won't drop into any Camry bay, without sticking out the bottom dangerously close to scraping the ground on normal road ( with Custom mounts), or creating a 6" tall, bulging hood. So there is no way in hell any domestic v8 will fit.

They're too tall, and the bay is all most to short to link the transmission without the thing dragging the ground.
