Well this is my first post and I am glad to see all the helpful information around here. I am changing my fuel filter which is in back of the gas tank right next to the evap can. After crawling under my car i noticed it is far up in there. So I don't think I will be changing it. Does anyone know how much it costs for the filter change?

Don't Know but you should do it it better and it easy just watch when the gas comes out also don't have your car turn on when you change it

Ok, I ran the car this morning and took out the fuel pump fuse and it ran a little longer and quit. I also pressed in the fuel rail service valve to relieve any residual pressure. I would change it myself but I felt something wierd when I was under there. I can't figure out how this connector works. The connector on the car seems to be different than the two eared connector on the replacement filter. Or maybe that's just a cover?? I felt it and it is black with one side it looks like you can fit a flat head screwdriver into. Can someone help me get the connector off? Do I need a tool or something? It's a 2002 Malibu w/3.1L

I found this picture of a retainer used by GM for the fuel line. I guess it's used inside the black fuel filter connector. I need to figure out how do depress those tangs inside that black connector to force them outwards.
