SDM Air Bag Module Location

I'm helping a friend with a airbag fault light staying on on a 2001 GA GT with 65K miles.

Does anyone know where the SDM diagnostics module is located? I've heard on the passenger side of the dash board or under the passenger seat but not sure. Thanks in advance.

The air bag module is located in the pan underneath the passenger seat. Pull the two star-bolts on the back rails of the seat, rock it forward, pull it out; pull off your kicker strip, lift up the carpet, and you'll see it. It's a little metal box.

Thanks for the fast reply Ride. Another question, do you know where the actual sensor is located that triggers the air bags?

No problem. Well I'm pretty sure that that is it. It has an internal gryroscope that will send the signal if it detects a severe-enough impact; then it sends an electrical pulse to both airbags, which ignite a compound pellet inside each bag, which instantaneously expand at a high velocity, crushing and breaking your face, un-doing any plastic surgery you had done, and removing any makeup you may have applied that morning. :) - Yes; the sensor is in that box.

Once again, thanks Ride. We suspect the SDM is bad but can't prove it without swapping it out but it's an expensive part. Plus the dealer wants $110.00 just to run diagnostics. In the meantime we have the air bag fuse pulled. Wouldn't want those air bags blowing off on us.
