Hey, my friend has a 92 Grand Am and is having me put his sound system in. How in the bloody hell can I get throught that firewall?

The best way is to try to come through the groument near the steering wheel or the fuse block. If that fails you may have to locate a place in the firewall where there is nothing attached and drill a hole through. Grand Am's are notorious for not having additional openings available in the firewalls. Of course you could always run the wire under the car.

Ok, its 4 guage wire, so its pretty thick. I didnt see anywhere on the steering wheel grommet to go through, wheres the fuse block grommet? Also, what would I do to go under the car and where could I come in?

I ran mine up the side, then up the drivers side door into the hood and to tha battery. No probs so far, but you might need a cap, b/c my lights blink when the bass hits really hard and my amps are only putting outabout 800 rms!

Going through a gromet is not that difficult, I usually push through with a phillips head screw driver (be careful not to pinch off another wire). If you drill through the fire wall and your car is under the factory warrenty you could run into a problem with the rust through protection. Drilling into the body technically voids the warrenty. If you decide to drill make sure to seal the hole and make sure that the power supply line you install can not rub on the edge of the hole so it can't cut the insulation of the wire and cause a short.

Good luck.

I ran mine down under my car tucked up above the brake lines after i loosened the brake lines i zip tied it above them then bolted the brake lines back up and drilled one simple hole in the bottum of my spare tire area and sealed around the wire with some silicone sealant.
