MR2 not startingRogue Spear 07-19-2005, 07:53 PM Hi. I really need your help on this. I have just bought a MR2 today, good condition with 127,000 and had to drive it for 300 miles to take it home. No problems on the way. Had to stop a few times to refuel, no problems starting. Really powerfull. Loved it straight away. Then when I get home, I park it up and move my van to make space for it to park. When I try to start it up, it starts making a caughing sound for a few seconds and does not start, just dies out. I try another two times and same thing. I check that its not in gear and a few other things, try to fire it up again and this time it does even make a sound. Try it again a few times with same result. I only know the basics about cars and this problem has got me really upset. I was so happy on my way home and now I am wondering how much it will cost to fix. I am hoping it is something simple. My gf is angry at me because I spent my vacation money on the car and car does not start. Any help would be very appreaciated. P.S. I don't think this is the cause of the problem. But the first petrol/gas station I went to I half filled my tank with super unleaded. The second petrol/gas station I visited, I half filled on standard unleaded. Could this be the reason for the problem? MR2turbo93 07-20-2005, 10:41 AM did you check your battery? Rogue Spear 07-20-2005, 06:36 PM It was the battery. It worked with another battery. The altinator will be tested, but I think the battery is doa as it would not charge. I also blew two fuses in a new charger trying to charge it. Don't know why. I got the neg and pos right.
