I have a '93 del Sol (one of the ones assembled in Japan).
It has a remote trunk opener, and a lock, located left of the right tail light. I usually use the remote, but have used the key, with no problems...

A few days ago, I tried to pop the trunk w/ the remote, and it wouldn't open. (it made the sound, but never unlatched) I tried the key, and IT WOULDN'T open! After about 2 turns of the key, it felt/sounded like there was something loose inside the panel... Now, the key will turn in the lock, but no effect. If I hit the lock with my fist a few times, the remote will make a "trying" sound, but other than that, nothing...

I can't go in through the cab, and there is no trunk release lever, or anything. Doesn't look like there ever was. (Chilton's shows one with the gas door release, but it isn't there)

I can get a wire hanger in the panel where the lock is, but no help.. I can barely get a hanger in under the seal, in the center where the trunk actally latches, but couldn't do anything there, either. I can pry up the right corner of the trunk <1/2 inch. I can see in where the lock is, but don't know if that is going to help me..

Honda service center has no idea.. Locksmith has no idea.. (The lock is ok)

I am about to the point of cutting holes in the car...and I REALLY don't want to do that!!

Anyone have ANY suggestions?? If I can get it open without any damage, that would be ideal. Otherwise, minimal damage might become acceptable... (My 1st idea, is to cut a hole behind the liscense plate and hope I can pull a cable, or something..)

Oh yeah, I am carrying a 4qt jug of oil in there, along with all my audio components, and I am in Boise, where it has been in the upper 90's - lower 100's for a week and the heat is expected to continue.. Lets see, can it get worse??.... Oh, my car is black.

If it's still locked, might I reccomend a baseballbat and/or a crowbar, a few good wacks aught to get it to be a little more compliant. :naughty:

Thanks for the crowbar idea, but luckily I came up with a fix. I would post it, in case this happens to anyone else, but until I get one more thing done, there is a security risk. If anyone else has this problem, letme know, and I can email you the fix.

I have the same issue if you could send me the fix, My Wifes 1993 Del Sol Latch broke when she shut the lid after placing a full tank of propain in it. I need to get it out, I can hear the latch link flapping around. scott.pearson@zeeband.com
