Does anybody have an answer as to which is better for an 01 .v6...it has been running at 210...and I wonder why.....changed water pump and cleaned out radiator....and thermostat.....i have a mix of orange and green with a splash of water and just put some water wetter in there..

well sorry to say but never mix the 2 coolants.. i would drain that system out right away and flush it best you can... personally i like traditional green coolant but i think for 01 they call for dex cool but whatever you manual says go for it.. but never mix it...

Also make sure all air is relieved from the system since an air pocket will cause temp problems

I run with green, with water wetter. My 93 GT3.3 runs extremely cool now.

I agree with Doobiess. Don't mix the coolants

have you bled all the air out of the system using the bleeder screw?

210-215 is reasonable temperature range... I run around that range with the green coolant in my G/a. The red/orange, starting get thick with actual chunks in it, as it got older.... so as a precaution keep an eye on it as it gets older.

If it the cooling fans should kick on automatically. If not,the fans don't kick on until 212. The thermostat does not even kick on until 195. So 210 is not hot or they would not wait until 212 to turn on the cooling fans.

They kick on hotter than that. Mine doesn't kick on till about 230. My antifreeze doesn't boil till 275.

Thanks very much for your input...its only an issue because after its hot ..well 215 for ten or fifteen minutes. it starts to diesel and it has no power...i have to pull over open the hood and let it cool of...and in Palm Springs where the daytime temperature is ..well today it was 122 degrees outside.. its draining me..

Pull your temperature sensor, make sure its clean. It sounds like you are getting a false reading from the sending unit, or the gauge in your dash is bad. Running hot, power loss and dieseling are a bad combination. Try flushing the cooling system, and keep an eye on what comes out of it. Mixing green and orange coolant is bad, it was done in mine before i bought it and it gummed up the radiator to the extent it had to be replaced.
