Fuel filters: Don't laugh!

I can't change mine.I went to get the special tool for the quick disconnect, and still could get it to fit between the filter and the exsisting fuel line.
Auto Zone and O'rielly's couldn't help. I finally went to the quick oil change places and they "swore" I had the wrong filter. "It should fit right between the filter and the fuel line" is what they said.
I went to the dealership that serviced itlast. "Jerry" said we have the special tool needed. I said let me see it. He felt sorry and said "just give me the keys and I will handle it". Sure enough 20 min. later he said it was ready! For FREE!!! (We are repeat customers)
I am asking you to send me the pics of the tool you guys use to change the fuel filter in '02 Tahoes or newer. I couldn't do it even after grindign some of the tool off to fit in the tight space I had. :disappoin :loser: :disappoin
I don't want to take it anywhere to change it out in the future.

here's the one you want: part number OTC 6603.

It's still a bear to change the filter until you figure it out

I had the same problem. I finally got my hands on the "special" tool to remove the filter. It took some time to finally wiggle it loose but it can be done.

Thanks for the responses, rrousou, that tool would still be too long to get between the filter and the fuel line.
I tried and tried and I could not get it. I am just wondering what I am going to do now.
Those quick shops said it didn't look right but, when "Jerry" took it to the back to change it, they took it off.

This tool pushes on the locking tabs(most of the time white) that attach the filter to the line. I have also been able to use a screw driver to push one side in and then the other, in some occassions. This tool does work for just about all GM's with "quick" disconnects.

that disconnect tool is exaactly what the dealer uses....I know it's a real bear, you have to loosen and disconnect all hardware holding that filter in place. Once you figure out the trick they are not that bad. It's probably easiest and cheaper to just take it to the dealer....not to mention less aggravating

Hate to sound cheap but, $65.00 is more than I can let myself spend for a task that I KNOPW can't be that hard!
